As with any new lump, bump or unusual symptom then you MUST go and see your doctor in the first instance. Dr Google will always convince you of worst case scenario so don't do it. Always go to the people who can do the examination or tests and get you properly seen. GP's are still working - despite covid - even if it means a phone consultation first. Contact your doctor on Monday and get the ball rolling.

I saw a doctor with a growth on my chest. That was four months ago and haven’t even heard re an appointment to dermatologist yet. They don’t care if it’s cancer or not. It’s horrendous at the moment sad to say.

Have you contacted your surgery since seeing the doctor ?

in reply to Laura009

No but when I called about another issue the secretaries mentioned that they had received the images of it I sent. The doctor wasn’t allowed to take photos so I had to do that after I saw her and email them.

Yes thats the normal procedure since covid took over. I would ring and ask what's next ?

It’s not worth it. I have a number of issues and same story. I’ve begged to see someone about pain in the bridge of my nose which has been ongoing for 5 months. It took two months for the secretary to even do the referral!. Now it’s going to take 18 weeks to see someone And I feel like I’m suffocating as I cant breathe properly. Now imagine if this pain is cancer. There is going to be a lot of people perish due to this pandemic and not from Covid. I told the doctors receptionist that I’m not willing to be one of these people I’m reading about in the papers every day, even young females left with no investigation for their problem and now left with a death sentence. She simply said, don’t read the papers! To which I replied, this is real and happening to people all over the U.K. Then she said well we have a pandemic. So in other words if you have cancer tough!

Yes Katie doctors are still available to us. My son had a stye on his eye last month which appeared to be getting better as the pain had gone but over a week it turned red and grew. He phoned our surgery on Thursday and was told to go to the website. Filled in the form re symptoms and added a photo. Friday he received an e-mail from the doc with diagnosis of a chalazian and that a prescription for antibiotics was ready for him at the chemist. All within 24 hours... pretty impressive, quicker than getting an appointment. I know that arrangement wouldn't be suitable for every case but the docs are available for face to face where essential. 😀

Hi Davier. The only way to get a proper diagnosis is to contact your doctor's surgery and arrange an appointment. I strongly advise you not to google symptoms. It causes unnecessary concern and will have you believing you will be dead within months.
