So it takes about 5 days for diuretics to kick in (Spiro), but how long for them to be effective enough to reduce discomfort and relieve symptoms?
Thanks,
K

My husband lost 11kg in 10 days after starting spiro
Hello,
It varies from person to person but in general the aim would be to lose not more than 1 kg a day so it is a good idea to have a daily weight to check this. I would hope that your partners medical team are monitoring him for the effect and also making sure that his kidneys are not coming under strain from the extra work they are having to do.
I do hope he starts to feel more comfortable very soon. I also hope that he is getting good advice about diet and has seen a dietician.

Thank you. I called and spoke to one of your nurses (Kirsty) which was really helpful and she put me onto this group as well.No one from the hospital suggested checking his weight or told us what to expect. I contacted the doctors surgery to ask about things but they hadn't received his notes yet. His doctor arranged a blood test to see if he could increase the Spiro but heard nothing yet. He is passing more water but no improvement or relief yet...
Thanks,
K
