Hi I have got cirrhosis of the liver cant sleep with stomach pains i just take 1 codine tablet at night to try to help me sleep will this harm my liver Thanks

You definitely need to discuss this with your doctors but I presume that it was prescribed for you. I had a transplant and codeine is on my medication list for osteoarthritis. My Heptologist is fine with me taking it.

Thanks for the reply I haven't been prescribed it its over the counter ones which contain paracetamol.

I recommend that you run it past your doctors, I wasn’t allowed any pre-transplant, but obviously it is down to the individual.

Thank you I have been put on a list for six months time to be seen dont feel this is good enough.

If you have important queries before your scheduled consultant check up, you can always discuss with your GP who should be able to help, or if not, they could possibly get in touch with your liver team for advice.
