About 6 weeks ago I had my ferritin levels checked and they came backed raised . Think they were 200.
So my doctor sent me to have my ferritin levels & GGT levels checked again 4 weeks later.
Got results on Friday and she said that my ferritin and GGT were raised. So she wants me to have a liver scan. I am not really a big drinker mainly only drink on a Saturday night. About 4-5 single Gins. And all through October I didn't drink at all as I did sober for October.
Could anyone tell me what expect to happen next please ?

Your GP has probably referred you for an ultrasound scan of your liver. It a procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to create an image of part of the inside of the body, in this case your liver. It will provide useful clinical information to see what may be causing the elevated liver function enzymes.

Hello Karen, and welcome. May I ask please if you are taking any other medication? Other medications can interfere with certain liver test results, also some medications can be rather toxic for the liver.
Have you ever had any problems in the past with your gallbladder?
I wouldn’t worry too much about this. Your doctor is on the case and will be running certain tests to rule out what it’s not. I think it’s safe to rule out alcohol as your not a heavy drinker.
The only other thing I’d mention is not to be surprised if some appointments don’t seem to be hurried. The NHS is at the moment struggling with Covid, and some treatments and tests are having to be cancelled or scaled back.
Just hang on in there and just be careful what you eat. Only healthy foods for a while, just until they figure out what is going on.
Hi Richard I am currently taking Lansoprazole for acid reflux . And I have just have just been diagnosed with Erosive Gastritis after having a camera down last Tuesday.
