Final update on my father.

Unfortunately, he passed away on 21st this month. He fought and fought but without us getting any support for Doctors here, he couldn't make it. I feel sad, angry and felt helpless seeing him taking his final breath without any help available at home.

He felt good at home, was back to his normal self, he was told his kindey failed even though they creatinine was steady 1.5, he had massive ascites at hospital due to improper iv infusions and left him home with up to 13-14ltr of water in his stomach. But I guess his so called failed kidneys were good enough to remove it all naturally through urine in month. He was in high spirit, wanting to live to see his 6 month old grand daugher with whom he coulnd't spent time since 3 months, he wanted to visit places with family. But all failed him.

All he needed was a simple cough suction. We pleaded at many places for nurse or doc to just attend him home as he was starting to struggle with solid food intake, speaking due to acid reflux cough. We took him to doc who had previously banded his varices, so he can do endoscopy, he refused without even bothering to see him properly. We visited another specialist with reports, but without seeing them properly, they declared that well, this is progressive and it wont help without new liver, with that we were told if he makes it - he makes it for 8 years or so. But they won't take interest in treating his symptoms to give him any comfort.

All these doctors saw a glass that was half full, whole empty only and took away my father's chance to be with us. At the end, all that cough filled his throat, he bled through stool, lost his mind, and struggled to clear his throat and just died while struggling to breath. Extreamly painful for me to see knowing he had a chance which was not given by anyone here. A simple cough suction was denied, I bought the damn machine but no one was willing to come home in this horried time! I was willing to take him to place but his luck that no one was available when we decided to do that.

Finally, we managed to get a nurse to come home but just before she walked in room, he gave up his last breath :(

This my friends, is medical system in India. The horror of this experiences taught me that the place we live in, doctors are businessman, they will treat those who they think will get them more profit. No humanity. Either you have to be filty rich or have some connections with hospital owners to get the proper attention.

I feel angry , i feel guilty that I couldn't help him which I truely feel was possible only if doctors had done their job with dedication. I know lot of you have complaints about UK's medical system where you have hard time getting appointments etc. But trust me, you will be thankful or feel blessed if you compare it with what we get in India.

I thank you all for providing support when I needed it to give my father some comfort. Stay Healthy.

So very sorry to hear of your tragic loss, it was awful how poor your father was treated/not treated.

Sorry to hear that he has now passed away but take some comfort in knowing he is now at peace and no longer suffering.

Thoughts with you and all the family, much love.

So very sorry to read about the loss of you Father. We are very fortunate to have our NHS. There are flaws in the system but many people on this forum would not be alive today without the skill and dedication of the doctors and nurses within the service 💙
