Liver mass

Wonder if any one can give me some hope. I’ve probably posted on here before about this but just need to rant

I had an ultrasound on Saturday as about 2 months ago I had an attack in the middle of the night and 3 since then. The ultrasound has shown multiple gallstones biggest measuring 1.8cm. Also a simple cyst. But they also found a lesion on my liver which they have referred on a 2 week wait cancer referral.

I am literally out of my mind with worry. Not eating/sleeping crying having what I think is panic attacks

Has anyone had liver lesions that turned out to be something silly.

Sorry for going on but just desperately need someone to talk to

Hello,

It is absolute torture waiting for a scan and then waiting for the results, the imagination goes into overdrive. But -until you have had that scan no one can tell you what the'lesion' is.

If it would help to talk about it, give our helpline a call on 0800 652 7330 and speak to one of our liver nurses.

Hi Tracy, I know what you are going through because I have been through the same thing as you. I was in hospital for what they thought was a Stroke. When I turned over in the hospital bed, the Consultant heard me groan. He asked me what was wrong and I told him the pain in my Tummy was really bad.

He arranged an Ultrasound the same afternoon. A few hours later he came back to see me. He told me that I had Gallstones and a Sludgy Gallbladder, also had an Enlarged Liver,Cyst on the Pancreas and Blocked Bile Ducts..I told him not to tell me anything else. Because I'd already had a similar conversation a few years before. But I told him that the conversation wasn't about me. It was to do with my Mum. He asked me what the outcome was.I told him that my Mum had Pancreatic Cancer. She passed away 6 months after diagnosis. He said Yes well this is why we need you to see an Onocologist as soon as possible. We think that this is what you have. But he said that there are things that can be done to help me, like an operation. I told him that if it is Pancreatic Cancer. I'm not having any operations etc, just some good pain relief. Then I told him that I'm gonna ring my Hubby up because I'm going home. When my Hubby came to pick me up,the Consultant had a chat with him. Anyway I ended up staying in another 3 days for them to do different tests. I had an MRI Scan a CT Scan, then a MRCP scan.Im so glad that I did. The Lesions in my Liver were cysts. I also have Cysts on the outside of the Liver and Cysts on one of the Kidneys.

IT WASN'T PANCREATIC CANCER..

9 weeks ago I was taken in as an Emergency. The hospital rang me up and asked me if I could go in within 2 weeks.

I went in and had my Gallstones and Gallbladder removed, they sorted my Bile Ducts out and I had 2 Hernia Repair's done at the same time. I know that this is a long story. But I know what it's like to go out of your mind with worry. The Word Cancer and Onocologist is really mind blowing..I've still got the Lesions and cysts on the inside and outside of my Liver, also the cyst on the Kidney.

But they are nothing to worry about. 👍.

I was Lucky in a way, because I was already in hospital, my scans etc were all done within a few days.

I hope that this helps you get rid of some of those terrible thoughts going through your head .Lesions doesn't have to be Cancer. Good Luck to you and hope that you get good and quick results.🤞💕 xx

Oh KB47 thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me. I had tears in my eyes reading that. I am an absolute emotional wreck at the minute. I also have this terrible habit of thinking the worst.

I’m 46 never had any real health issues apart from under active thyroid which I think attributes to my anxiety About 2 years ago I started getting an ache about the size of a 2 pence piece on right side of chest it would come and go quite a lot along with breathlessness anyway I ended up having to take iron tabs for low ferretin Everything was fine when I got my ferretin level up no aches breathing better tiredness went but then it started to come back again. I plucked up the courage to go gp and I told them the problem and she laughed and said I was being silly and that she would not even send me for a chest X-ray as she knew I’d go out of my mind waiting for the results. Anyway the ache in chest disappeared and then a couple of months ago I had a couple of attacks in right upper abdomen which is why I was sent for the ultrasound and li and behold the aching in my chest has started again.

So now I’m in a real panic thinking that this is secondary cancer as I’ve probably had it in my lungs for last 2 years which I never had checked

Sorry for my long post and reading on it I must come across as an absolute lunatic x

Really I’m not normally lol

Tracy, NO you do not come across as a Lunatic at all. I'm not a Doctor, but I expect the pains you get in your chest are due to the anxiety that you are under. Why don't you go to your GP and tell her that you want a chest XRAY done. She can't refuse if you tell her about the pains you're having in your chest again. She shouldn't have called you silly anyway. She's the one that's silly for not taking you seriously. After you've had your chest xray done and had your results back, I bet that you'll feel so much better. You'll probably get the ALL CLEAR. 👍 Go see your GP and tell her exactly what's going on. You'll feel so much better. 💕 xx

Not sure what lesions are but had them on my lungs before. Showed up in an x Ray. Dr said nothing to worry about.

Hi Carp01, That's good news if your Doctor told you that you had nothing to worry about. 👍.When the Doctor tell us that we have Lesions, the 1st thing that we think of is Cancer. I'm not a Doctor but I think that Lesions can mean cysts, tumors etc. I don't know why the Doctors tell us Lesions, because it makes our brain work overtime🤔. Ive got a numerous amount of cysts inside my Liver which seems to be hereditary. But as long as I'm not having problems it's best to leave well alone. If you want to know what type of Lesions you have, make an appointment with your GP and ask him .He will have all your results on record. But don't worry about them while you're waiting to see your GP. I know that if I were you, I would ask him. You Take Care and Stay Safe . Glad your results were nothing to worry about 👍🤗

Thanks for your reply. Maybe I should go back and ask as these were picked up during a scan in 2009 when I had Pneumonia. I didn't know a lesion was. I thought it was like a scar. Is how it was sort of explained at the time.

I appreciate the advice. You have me wondering now.

Best wishes and stay safe. 👍🙏

Paul.

Hi Paul, now don't go worrying about that. I'm not a Doctor, but if you had Pneumonia, You probably have got scarring. But the Doctors call it Lesions. Like if you graze your Arms or Legs etc. The Doctors very often refer to the graze as a Lesion. Buf if something is worrying 🤔 you about it though, have a word with your GP. Don't go worrying unnecessary. 🤔 Worry can fry your Brain.🤯 🤔🤯 That's what my Granddaughter keeps telling me.. Stay Safe and look after yourself.👍.Glo

Hi Tracy,

I went through something similar that wasn't cancer.

My story is below. I hope it helps.

Thank you Wayner. Yes it really does help. What a bloody amazing group of people on here. Honestly the only info I had was from my dr who said yes there is a worrying lesion on your ultrasound scan and I’m referring you for a 2 week cancer referral. If it wasn’t for the kindness of people from this group I don’t know how bad I would have been in my head by now. I got a call from appointments today and they have booked me in for a telephone consultation on Monday.
