Morning all. I trust you are all staying safe and are as well as can be..Its been a while since i wrote here. So thought i would check in on you all and give an update on hubby.

Cant remember if i mentioned before but hes now been diagnosed with copd and scaring on the right lung..Drs are still saying hubbys only got a fatty liver, which im amazed is not changed to cirrhosis considering he was diagnosed with that over 2 years ago and continued drinking, anywho,,..Hes now eating very little because he always feels full when hes eaten a small amount, hes suffering every day with heart burn, and every day with very bad stomach pains, when he does eat it takes him ages (over an hour to eat 2 pieces of toast ) but then hes either fighting not to be sick or he is sick, and the same with every time he drinks hes either fighting not to be sick or he is sick,, ive noticed lately when ever he does have a drink (which is not much these days ) his face will go red, his sleeping habits have changed, hes gone from sleeping a lot to not having much sleep, he feels tired and sleepy but cant sleep. So every day is different for me with him. He told me yesterday that this is the worse he has ever felt, i suggested he contact his dr but his usual reply was it will pass in a few days. Hes afraid to go in case they send him to hospital and he doesnt come out (it stems from the fact thats how his friends have died).

Im keeping safe as i can and even though its exausting sometimes i get out and about , meeting with friends for coffee, although thats stopping now because you have to be living in the same household to drink in a cafe at the moment, But i do take time out and go and have a coffee on my own .:).

So thats my update..Take care all..Love and hugs to all those who need it..:)

Lyn..

Hi ty for your reply,, hes not seen or seeing a liver consultant because the dr discussed hubby with the consultant and the consultant said there is no point in seeing him because hes still drinking, i said to the dr you do realise that hubby was serious about giving it up and besides the fact he hardly drinks now because hes just cant tolerate it, and the dr said basically the consultant doesnt want to see him. I will keep that number you have given ,it will come in handy , thank you once again..This group is so helpful,so caring and none judgmental which makes such a difference...

Hi Lyn.

A patient should still have access to a consultant if they drink alcohol or not. Please see here the link to our 'Patient Charter' this details the care that your husband should expect to receive if he is diagnosed iwth a liver condition:

britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...

We would suggest that your husband considers trying to request a referral again, its really important he is under the care of a specialist.

Keep us posted and do call me on the helpline if needed.
