Medical Receptionists grrrr !

I have been going for blood tests regularly either weekly or sometimes I get a two to three weeks break for good behaviour. I had one on the 19th August which showed urea and creatinine were elevated but liver function was good. Two weeks later I was requested by the Leeds who did my transplant to have another blood test before the could arrange a telephone consultation.

What has gone wrong in two weeks my ALT and ALP are both very high and neutrophils are low. I don't feel unwell apart from constant daily headaches. My gp picked up on this and let my consultant know at York hospital he rang me and and told me I had to start Prednisolone again I had only just finished them at the beginning of August. I had to go the next day for an US and to go for urgent blood tests as soon as I received the blood forms.

I rung the nurses reception to book a blood test she asked when for I explained it was urgent her reply was I can fit you in next Thursday ! I said again it was urgent which she then advised me to travel to York and have them done at the hospital. She then begrudgingly gave me an appointment tomorrow morning, huffing and puffing about the time it took to clean down after patients, with squeezing me in it was going to have a knock on effect on the rest of the patients appointments it's not as if I haven't had to wait 30 minutes or more before I see someone. It makes you feel like apologising for being ill.

Stay safe everyone

Lesley

I have just managed to get them done this morning I was nearly sent through to the hospital as they couldn't get a vein the only one that's decent enough blew another nurse tried and got it. I have to go again next week and the week after too. I think they will probably all call in sick πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
