Clinically Extremely Vulnerable

As a liver transplant patient I am classed as clinically extremely vulnerable .

On August 1st we are no longer required to shield . Has anyone heard of any campaigns or groups who are working towards us being identifiable to the general public ?

For example wearing a lanyard or certain colour so that people are aware and definitely distance themselves from us

I luckily don’t need to go out but in September will be dropping children at school and would like people to be aware that I may need extra space

BBC news featured an article about some people designing t shirts and the like to aid identification. Can’t remember how long ago, about 3 weeks??

Hi, there is a Facebook group called #shieldus, which is campaigning for a recognisable sign they sell badges, t-shirt, lanyards, hi viz vests etc. There are several Facebook groups for people shielding.

Hope this helps

Thanks this is just what I was looking for

Hi,

Thank you for raising this, at the Trust we have not heard of any such campaigns- but I will send your query to our communications department and see if they know of anything.

Can you also raise this with your hepatologist/ liver nurse/ transplant team?

Best wishes.

It would make me uncomfortable to publicly identify myself as a vulnerable person in the shielding group. Most people will respect it but you can’t account for a minority. Just my own thoughts.

I’m not in the shielding group and work in a supermarket. I understand what you’re saying re not identifying yourself as a vulnerable person but believe me many people are not unfortunately respecting others space and need to be reminded. Of course it’s an individual decision hopefully someone can come up with something that will help.
