I'm going crazy.

Hello everyone,

Since my relapse I have the feeling something is seriously messed up. And the worrying and overthinking new symptoms is just affecting my life in a really bad way.

Been to the doctor multiple times and still after a echo, CT scan, 2 blood test and an endoscopy including a consultation with a hepatologist Wich all came back fine besides that I had a fatty liver I still am worried. I even went to the ER and the doctor looked at me like what the f are you doing here?

At the moment I still have a minor ruq pain wich is not always present and muscle pains from time to time and occasionally an itch but due to all the worrying I think i'm blowing everything out of proportion. I already asked the hepatologist for a fibroscan but she does not believe it is needed.

At one point i'm saying to myself it's all good and then 2 hours later I see no future, it's dreadful. Went to the psychologist yesterday to talk about my health anxiety so I hope this will help me.

I think seeing the psychologist regularlyis going to be of more use to you than visits to the doctor . Its far more likely any symtoms you have are caused by axiety than anything else .

Hopefully you are being pro-active with lifestyle changes that can improve your fatty liver situation. Fatty liver can give symptoms, however, dwelling on it can also make them magnified.

Get some positivity going, do something proactive for your liver and your health and hopefully you can take your mind off the liver for a while.

The British Liver Trust has a page about Non Alcohol Related Fatty Liver - the advice for alcohol related would be the same though you'd obviously cut out any booze.

Hi,

Are you in the UK? If you are, you can request fibrosis testing if you have a fatty liver. This can be a fibroscan, Fib-4 score blood test or an enhanced liver fibrosis blood test.

Equally, it does sound a good idea to get some support and help for your health anxiety which can be really challenging.

Keep us posted.

Thanks for all the support, I know some of it might be in my mind that's why I requested some help for this and hopefully this will improve fast. I always had health anxiety to some degree but now it's in overdrive.

I'm not in the UK , I live in Belgium and if i wanted to i could request my gp to forward me to get a fibroscan. Do you think I should wait some time to get the scan so my results would be better or just request it immediately? From the information i got from the hepatologist they only do the scan with severe cases. Also I definitely made changes in my lifestyle and already lost quite a bit of weight, clean and non processed foods with reduced calorie intake since i'm overweight. Besides that I started to exercise again like before corona virus.

Hi I am so glad you have got a psychologist a lot of people will not talk and it’s very important to talk things though.

I do a thing called supported lodgings it’s a bit like fostering but it’s for the young people of 18 years and above, so if they have been in the care system a lot of there lives the wife and I try to get them ready for life outside the care system.

It’s surprising the things they know nothing about, but getting off track most of them need someone to talk to and if they are willing to talk to professionals I have not seen a bad outcome.

So good luck and more important keep talking to the professional people 😀.

Thanks Dogbot,

Nice that you and your wife put so much effort in helping young adults, l can imagine some of them are feeling totally lost sometimes.

I never had any issues to talk about my problems in the past but to be fair talking about my alcohol addiction was not easy because I feel so ashamed about it.

But the only way forward mentally is to put things in perspective and if talking with a professional would help me achieve that then it's a logic step to take in my opinion.

Some of my symptoms do still make me worry, as of recent I gained some digestion problems and a rumbling in my belly when I ate and do have the occasional leg aches (no cramps) and my ruq pain seems to come and go but I try to weigh them of against the test results and this does give me hope that everything will be fine.

Anxiety is extremely powerful - it can trick your mind into thinking you have a life threatening illness when in fact it’s just anxiety itself causing these symptoms.

I know exactly where you’re coming from and trust me, you’re not alone. I get random chest pains all the time which cause me to panic when I know for a fact it’s just anxiety causing these. Even though I know there’s nothing wrong with me the anxiety gets a grip on me and makes me second guess it. You’re ok.
