Hello everyone, I have a query related to the above. I've been abstinent since April 11, gradually reduced my alcohol intake from early March until then. About 2-3 weeks after going abstinent I experienced almost a week of insomnia, night sweats etc., which then subsided and dissipated. My ALT and ferritin levels were raised just after I started abstaining, I expected the ferritin to come down 2-3 weeks after abstaining, however it actually rose, my GGT is 30, my AST is 34, leaving me with an AST:ALT ratio of 0.35, suggesting that alcohol isn't the main driver. I'm staying abstinent regardless, but one of my queries relates to whether a sustained period of abstinence will help improve fibroscan readings and, if so, how long does it typically take to have an effect on the readings. Best wishes to everyone.

Hi Pellegrino
I'm no medical expert but I have read on here the others have reduce there fibroscan results by eating really healthy along with giving up alcohol!
As you know bad foods and drink can cause cirrhosis over a long period of time!
Good luck and I look forward to seeing your up dates.
