Gauchers discease

Anyone heard of gauchers dicesse. My partner died in November aged 39 after a cardiac arrest which caused severe brain damage. Yes he was an alcoholic and had cirrhosis but he was so young. I was looking through his medical letters and following a blood test there was a mention of gauchers. He was on a lot of meds before cirrohis for epilepsy and dihydrocodine for his back. Just think sometimes it’s easy to blame alcohol for everything Thoughts please

Sorry for your loss Dingbat. I have no personal knowledge about this condition, however,

looking up Gauchers Disease it can cause fatty build up in the liver and other organs and can cause a whole range of symptoms so you may be right that alcohol only partially contributed to his situation. It's an inherited genetic condition. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauch... more information at mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...

Good morning Dingbat7,

I am so sorry for your loss.

Gauchers Disease is a rare condition , I see AyrshireK has included some useful links.

I have included a link to the Gauchers Association UK.

I hope this is some help

Take care,

Thank you. I have already read up on this but really wanted to know if anyone had first hand experience of it. Thanks again
