My Dad’s funeral

Hi all

So my Dad died on 27 Feb and we had the funeral last Tuesday, the 17th. It should have been pretty crowded but due to govt. advice quite a few people didn’t come. Quite clearly a funeral for an 89 yr old meant friends of a similar age.

We had the wake at a pub so the was interaction with others. Now we are 5 days later and as far as I am aware no one has become ill so fingers crossed.

We had to get home to France just as the E U closed it’s borders but it was ok as for covid 19 purposes we are still in the EU! We took the shuttle, which was fine, and meant no contact with anyone except the immigration people. Our elder daughter was heading for Germany so changed her plans and flew direct rather than coming to Normandy first.

So here we are, I’m self isolating being a transplantee. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep busy in the garden etc sl I don’t brood too much about Dad. At least he died at home, in his sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer’s, poor kidney function and a weak heart.

He will be missed

Isabelle xx

So sorry to read the news about your Dad. Mine reached 89 too ... a great age yes but that doesn't make it any easier as we have known them for so much longer. But many happy memories !

Good to know your family are home safe and sound where they should be now. Such beautiful weather for gardening .... a great tonic and distraction from the invisible dark cloud hanging over us. Stay safe 💐🌸🌻🏵🌹🌷🌺
