To stop taking Tenofovir because of the side effects without discussing it with your doctor would be foolish. Tenofovir is used to treat serious conditions like hepatitis B and HIV. You should be under the care of a specialist who is aware of the side effects that you are experiencing. There may be other drugs available to treat your condition that have fewer side effects. It's also possible that the side effects are the lesser of two evils. Once your condition is under control the dose may be able to be reduced or the drug stopped.

An ALT of 80 while above the normal range is not life threatening and it may not be caused by taking Tenofovir.

Thanks Edward1952. I will call my doctor about it tomorrow. I was concerned if the side effects more effective.

Good afternoon Madio,

As Hidden has already suggested - it would NOT be advisable to discontinue your medication without discussing it wih you own speciaist doctors.

Please seek medical advice before making any changes.

Best wishes
