Help with my liver!!!!
Some of your symptoms are applicable but were you diagnosed with NAFLD or NASH. There is a huge difference. Not all LFTs will be abnormal anyway. Work out what questions to ask of a liver specialist and put them on here first. You do not need to be scared I assure you xx
Just had hydra scan on glanladder Tuesday and it came back at a 0% !!!!!! Was scheduled for surgery to remove gallbladder, but seen liver doctor yesterday and told me not to do surgery because my liver could fail during surgery due to Anesthesia. I have Fibroscan scheduled for Friday
Hi
Good luck with your fibroscan. I have got one in the 11th February, don't know what it will show as I feel much worse than I did when I last had one approximately 2.5 years ago. Please let me know how you get on? Take care Lynne
What are your symptoms?? Similar to mine??
Yes but have more besides. I do also have many conditions. I also get capsule pain , my liver is so enlarged it stretches the capsule around it which causes the pain. It goes through to my back and then to my shoulder. I have pain 24,/7 , an hour or less sleep per night due to pain. Take care Lynne
Does your liver being to hurt prevent you from taking pain and sleeping pills?
No, I take pain meds but there's no point in taking sleeping pills cos it's the pain that keeps me awake so sleeping pills wouldn't work unfortunately.
These are side effects of Cirrhosis try Benadryl for the itching and drink 6 oz of Tonic Water before bed to block the cramps. Make sure it is Tonic Water it contains Quinine and it takes away muscle cramps. Nausea and insomnia are normal use tryptophan or 4 mg of melatonin it helps you fall and stay asleep. It is also available over the counter. Pale stools and back pain you will need to ask your Doctor about.
Hi Bigguy_1969
We are sorry to read that you feel unwell. Are you under the care of a hepatologist? ( liver specialist) They would be best placed to physically assess and examine you.
Have you also had testing for fibrosis? In the UK, national guidelines from NICE and the British Society of Gastroenterology highlight the need for an assessment of liver fibrosis risk in patients with Non Alcohol Related Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) Some of the tests that can be used are Fib-4 score blood tests, Enhanced Liver Fibrosis blood tests (ELF) and also a FibroScan ( a specifc scan that estimates levels of stiffness/scarring)
