Has it been biopsied? Did they tell you what kind of lesion it was?

Hello, no not been biopsied... but I have had an u/s, ct and mri and it was said it was a Focal Nodular Hyperplasias.... then it’s also been mentioned as a Hyperechoic liver lesions, not sure if these mean the same diagnosis?

I was also diagnosed with FNH after MRI,CT and US..no biopsy was done.Only after it was surgically removed was I diagnosed with primary liver cancer.

May be worth asking after your next scan how sure they are its benign and maybe see if they can biopsy it.

As to your original question no I dont think they will disappear on there own.

Hi there,

I have cirrhosis and have been diagnosed with the same, focal nodular hyperplasia and/or hyperechoic lesion. I was told not to worry. So if you don't mind, did you have any other symptoms before you were diagnosed with cancer?

Hello..I had indigestion and right shoulder pain..these were all due to the size of the tumor.Other than that I had no symptoms.

I don't have cirrhosis and my remaining liver is very healthy.

Have they biopsied the lesion?

No, and have no current plans to.

Well that's terrifying. I have what they think is a hemangioma on the ultrasound so I'm having a MRI next week as I don't trust it. I'm 40 so young but going by your username you seem young also. No hepatitis either.

Good morning Dazakella2010,

May I suggest you return to the medical team who organised the scans and ask for a consultation to discuss your results and plan for any future monitoring if required.

They are best placed to make a diagnosis and assessment as they will be aware of your full medical history and have the scans to review.

Best wishes,

Good morning

I am being monitored and have another mri scan in February but was just curious to know if these sorts on Tumours can disappear on their own?

Hello Dazakella2010,

I have included a link to Benign Liver Tumours and Cystic Disesae for your information

britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

There have been cases reported of some Focal Nodular Hyperplasias disappearing on their own, and reassuringly, even when evident they do not tend to cause issues, rupture or develop into malignancies.

I hope this helps

Best wishes,

Hi, what was your diagnosis please? Was it fatty liver, cirrhosis, or something else?

I was diagnosed with cirrhosis some years back (and am one of the luckier patients in which the liver repaired and completely reversed the cirrhosis - scientists are still researching how that happens: they've always known it can, but obviously finding out the whys and wherefores could help thousands of people who would otherwise remain cirrhotic).

Because it reversed, all of my lesions disappeared too - and when I asked how this was possible, I was told only that I was one of the very lucky few.

I never thought to look deeper into this, so if you go down that route I would love for you to post again with any useful findings!

Hi, Daza -

I have several benign liver lesions which are scanned annually (just to check for any growth). They tend to increase and decrease in size quite randomly, and one did disappear entirely. My doctor has explained that once these lesions are confirmed as benign, they will not become cancerous and only need attention if they cause problematic symptoms - which normally only occurs if they are 10+ centimeters. Your consultant can of course tell you more, but yes, one of mine did disappear.

All the best to you.
