I am not sure how the process evolves but yes, it can become decompensated. Take all the medical advice and maybe contact the Liver Trust and read their information.
Thanks Snoutie 😁
It can yes but it usually needs a catalyst. What makes you ask Hayley? Something change that's concerning you?
Hi Phoenix
Nothing has changed since leaving hospital.
It's just reading everyone else who is at stage 4 they are decompensated.
I am generally well with ok bloods I really need to ask my consultant some questions of how they have come to the stage 4 diagnosis.
Thanks for your reply and take care.

Did you see the explanation Katie wrote for you on the other post? About the staging? I think you might be confused a bit on that maybe?
Stage 4 liver fibrosis is cirrhosis
But there is also a stage 4 of cirrhosis
I'll try to maybe simplify it here for you
The 4 stages of fibrosis are:
Fibrosis1, Fibrosis2, Fibrosis3, Fibrosis4 (Fibrosis 4 stage is called cirrhosis)
Then you break down the F4 Cirrhosis stage into 4 stages:
Stage 1 and Stage 2 of Cirrhosis is compensated
Stage 3 and 4 of Cirrhosis is decompensated.
Your doctor is telling you that you have F4 meaning its cirrhosis. And you are compensated so your in either stage 1 of cirrhosis or stage 2 of cirrhosis.
The post about the womans husband from earlier is different than you. He is in stage F4 but he is decompensated so he is in stage 3 or 4 of cirrhosis.
Does that help you understand a bit better?
Hi Phoenix
Many thanks it certainly does.
The penny has dropped.
Take care.

😊
Hi Phoenix, I think I've got, so I am F4 stage1 I have compensated cirrhosis since F4 is cirrhosis and I am compensated, is that right.
Yes exactly Peppy05. You would be F4 as it is cirrhosis and stage 1 or 2 depending if you have varices or not. Stage 1 you would have no ascites or varices. Stage 2 you would have no ascites but would have developed varices. Both are still considered compensated. So again yes you totally have it right 😊
Thanks phoenix
Thanks Phoenix,
I went straight to end stage and did not past go. Useful to know what exactly the earlier stages are, that was my understanding too.
Mark.
Yep. I’m still end stage cirrhosis. But I’m currently compensated. That means that I’ve had all the symptoms of stage four decompensated but now the drugs are working, I’m stage four compensated . I haven’t gone to stage one or stage two just because I’m compensated. Does that make sense? I will always be stage four it’s just the compensated/ decompensated aspect that can change.
Cheers,
Brett (Bob or LaLa)
I was beginning to think that there was some gender realignment happening. 😂
