Hello everyone, just a quick line to say, I am escaping the decorating of the new nome for a while.
We are making progress, we have completed the lounge, the dining room and almost the kitchen... There are still ongoing issues there. A bit like one step forward, 10 steps back.
My son lives in Dubai, so I am off to visit him and the adorable grandchildren.
This is my first trip since this all started.
I feel so lucky to be able to do this.
Here I am, out the other side, ready to take that first trip away. I am excited for sure.
As you may know we moved house 20th November 19, my feet have not touched the ground since...
So, the time away will be great!
There is still much to do, so hubby is staying behind to supervise.
Nine months post transplant and I am off.
Feel just a little trepidation, mostly because of where I am going and the long journey.
I have been many times before.
There is a part of me on some small level is thinking - too far from the doctors, hospital, and my comfort zone.
All the same, they don’t call me Dora the explorer for nothing! So, off I go.
I will be back on the 3rd Feb. Hopefully to another room finished or two???
I hope you all stay safe, strong and happy. I will be absent but thinking of you all.
Jaycee

Thank you Lynne I will still have everything crossed that your pain level may diminish. Allowing you to sleep for just one night would be great! Love Jay

Really hope you have a great time and so glad you can make it after all the trials and tribulations health wise you have been through and then to move house as well!! Good for you. ..👍
Thank you Miles. I am ready bag packed well the big one is full of presents for my two adorable boys, and the little one has my clothes in. I still find it all so hard to believe that I am here, alive and almost well LOL... ready after only 9 months to do this trip. So grateful I am. Jay

Thank you so much my dear friend. You know I never really had friends like this before transplant always a bit of a loner, still am if I am honest. Not the neighbour type really, a few really good friends on one hand... I have so many on this site all my liver buddies. I am truly so lucky!! Thank you for your wishes I know it will be awesome!
Such wonderful news Jaycee, it must be a wonderful feeling knowing you're well enough to do whatever your heart desires. Which is clearly seeing your little one's. I wonder if I'd fit in your case,!!
You really deserve this break, so try not to worry, just relax and enjoy the ride!!
Still waiting for my call!! But trying to keep positive. Had consultant appointment on weds, he thought I looked more jaundiced so that may help the transplant benefit score? Nearly nine months now, 3 calls but no luck!!
Maybe running away to dubai is a good idea, are you sure I can't get in that suitcase?? Lol x
Maybe it's 4th time lucky, I do hope so. Lots of love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Happy, Healthy travels Jaycee! In some ways it's an advantage when travelling, that we are already seasoned caretakers of our health. And as you say, this is a familiar trip to you. Every good wish for every possible ease on the way.
I have been to Dubai a couple of times, not been transplanted but all the normal Cirrhosis fun. I am always a tad scared on the flights and being "away from home" but try and forget that and have a great time, we only have one life as you know so try if possible to fill it with as many good memories as you can, this year I am off to Bali and Thailand, nervous as always but it’s to join my daughter who is spending a month out there teaching mental health and helping young children, I don't want to miss that for the world
Chris that will be some fabulous trip and I for one would totally agree with you. You could not miss that not for anything. So I hope all goes well there. Have a wonderful time in Bali and Thailand. I have never been to either place, I hope it is as amazing as I think it may be. Jaycee
That's great news Jaycee, have a wonderful time in the lovely warm weather......lucky you, you deserve it😊. It's great to see grandchildren that you don't get to see often, as they live abroad, so have a super time with them.
Hi Jaycee, I have been reading your posts over the last few months , I'm so pleased your doing well !! My son and daughter In law and 3 young grandchildren live in Dubai, not yet been myself due to mobility problems, have a wonderful wonderful time !!! 😎... well deserved x
Have an absolutely wonderful time with your family out in Dubai.
Forget all that new house organising and enjoy your time with your family and your two lovely grandchildren out there.
The time flies, it only seems a few weeks since I was saying to you "You will get a transplant!" and now here you are after some difficult times, feeling so good and raring to go!
Wishing you the best time ever, it's thoroughly deserved!
Yes ATG you are quite right it does not seem that long ago. That is on one hand and on the other is seems a lifetime ago now. I know for sure I would not have made it without all my fabulous liver brothers and sisters on this site. Yes, 9 months and I am off like Dora the Explorer. Jaycee
Well, maybe just a bit of plundering! On the last day when you're well rested. Go for the shiny, sparkly stuff and make sure that you're plane is in sight!
I have taken to calling my littlest grandson Swiper now, as he swiped my toast off my plate this morning. I had secretly planned it that way. He does not eat enough so I made a game of it calling him swiper. LOL.
Wow Jaycee ! I'm so totally proud of your achievements and to read that your fully living life and now in a position to fly to Dubai to see your lovely grand children is so wonderful to read.
I wish you an amazing time with your family and a comfortable flight both ways! Just remember not to lift those heavy cases.....lol ...
Thank you Peter, I appreciate it yes lots of sunscreen no problem I will have a bath in it before going out. However, the weather has been really cold in Dubai I was sent a video of cars floating down the by pass! So unusual.
Hello XenomOrph, sadly I travelled without insurance, I actually thought I was uninsurable. I am quite lucky my son said do not worry if anything happened he would take care of everything. Jaycee
Thank you Bootandall, I am here and loving it. Going out for dinner tonight not sure where. There is a new restaurant in Dubai, called the Masterchef experience. You can choose which year (All were winners of Masterchef) and choose the same menu. That one is an option and there is another famous steak house not sure which they will take me too. Still quite tired from the long journey but having a blast! Grandchildren make me smile everyday..
Thank you dear one2one, sadly caught a virus on arrival was really poorly but on the plus side I am on the mend now. Two rooms did not happen either LOL 😂 seriously the day I left the bathroom sprang a leak into the bedroom it went decoration on hold until just Monday he started so just yesterday. Again on the plus side it’s started now. So I can see an end in sight quite soon.
Oops Jaycee 😬one day it will all turn out right for us all !!, so there’s something else to look forward too ha.
I’m relatively new at this game, but think 💭 myself lucky. At the age of 72 yrs, and being fit and active with no medical issues at all up to this point. I went for my annual MOT in January 2019, when they flagged up a low white platelets count. This in turn led to an appointment with a specialist, scans, more bloods etc. I received a letter September 2019 which gave results .....
Non Alcoholic Liver Disease/Cirrhosis
I have since then followed the forum, gathering information regarding my dietary needs etc. It really is a great site eh.
I have recently had a check scan and bloods done, and have a follow up appointment with my specialist on 27/02/20.
So fingers crossed 🤞🏼. In general I seem to be quite well most of the time, but just occasionally have a off day feeling tired, or one of the many other symptoms that tends to put in an appearance now and then.
Hi there Christie, well you do sound chirpy! That is great.
I am 69 years young! I love that you are so upbeat, and I am so happy to hear you are pretty fit and well.
I hope those tired days do not rear their ugly head too often.
Do let us know how the appointment goes from the follow up.
I will for sure keep my fingers crossed for you.
Yes you are quite right. There are some amazing folks on this site. All of whom support each other, keep you smiling, I love that they will laugh and cry with you when needs must.. .
I found myself very fortunate to have so many lovely liver brothers and sisters. I will for sure always stay smiling dear Christie.
As promised follow up with consultant went well 👌.
No changes re results of liver, all working perfectly fine. Bloods improved, now all back to normal levels with the exception of one,, jaundice level slightly elevated, but not enough to change skin colour.
Such a lovely reassuring man. He said that he had no concerns, but if I should have anything that concerns me before my next check scans and bloods, all arranged and booked in front of me 😀magic ✅. I can ring him up anytime for an immediate appointment.
That’s me sorted for now.
Hopefully you’re keeping well, and your decorating etc is progressing well ❗️haha.
Chrissie x
Hello there Christie, well that is a fabulous mail, thank you for sending. I think it was good news all round really. They seem to have their finger on the pulse of things. You consult sounded lovely, treated you with respect and kindness. I am delighted for you. Truly.
I am doing good and the decorating is going well. I can see the end now Chrissie.
Stay in touch and stay well and happy. Sending huge virtual hugs... Jaycee
LOL that is up for debate as to if it was worth it.... still the end is in sight now. Just the bathroom and the carpets down. Then a break somewhere... Just in time for my liverversary on 30th March. Where did that year go!!! Jay
