Transplanted 6 months ago now, and on day one the team were concerned about my kidney function post op - they had been fine Pre op.
Through my follow up surgeon visits, all appeared fine until about 3 months in when it was mentioned.
Had a blood test recently for my local consultant, and had a phone call from him a couple of days later explaining concerns with my kidney results. He had talked to Birmingham who agreed to reduce tacrolimus from 6 to 5.
Letter recently stated me egfr was 59!!
Anyone had similar issues crop up??
Thanks, Andy.

Well I have been diagnosed with kidney disease (one year post) because of low gfr - but not quite as low as yours - but it is allied with abnormal albumin. “All” that’s happened so far is a change to BP tablets and bloods have just been rechecked yet again this week - await results. My Tac has not been changed 😑
Lol 😀. Oh I get it now! Aaah thanks for sympathy 😀👍. Appreciated. I guess in the overall scheme of things though it’s not really that bad - yet - they aren’t worried so I’m not 😀.
A lower kidney function following transplant is not that unusual, especially as the tacrolimus is known to have that effect. It normally improves as they reduce the dose. If it doesn't they may consider an alternative. For the first couple of years post transplant my GFR was usually in the 50s with the occasional stint in the 40s. It's now back in the 60s.
My kidneys were badly damaged within weeks of my transplant due to tacrolimus and valganciclivir, had lots of intravenous fluids and drugs changes. Now 21/2 years post they are not brilliant but stable, stage 3 ckd, egrf hovers around 40.
Sorry to hear this Andy - yes I am also still fighting kidney issues PT. My egfr is hovering around the 40-50 just depending and the feedback I get from my team is that they are "happy" with this as it is stable.
Like you, I came to TP with full kidney function - but now left with kidney damage from the cocktail of drugs necessary for TP. They are still of a mindset to eventually reduce the Tac, and that seems to be the prime culprit so it may get better yet.
I hope your journey is simple and as straightforward as can be hoped for - Peter
