Hi friends. Has anyone experienced this Biliary Stricture complication post liver transplant? I wish to know your experience and treatment part. I might need to undergo ERCP in a few days for the said complication and I'm very much scared..

Hi, Akanksha - I just did some reading about your condition and the ERCP they might use to treat it. There seem to be a number of causes for the Biliary Stricture - do they know yet what is causing yours? You now know why your enzyme levels rose, that’s for sure. I can understand why you would be scared. You’ve been through so much and were probably just feeling in the clear, and then this happens. 😞 Do you have close friends or family nearby to help you through this tough time? Being a doctor, you probably know all the worst things that can happen. I wish I had some words of advice or wisdom for you, but all I can say is that you have obviously been very brave so far and I think that will see you through this time, as well. Keep us up-to-date about whether they decide to proceed with your ERCP - or, if not, what do they propose? Sending best thoughts your way. 🌺

Hello AmericanDemocrat. Thanks a lot for your kind words. Yes I have my family support and some very good friends with me. Being a doctor myself my mind revolves more around the complications of any procedure. For the time being I have been advised for observation only. They will decide after a period of 15 days with repeat enzymes..

Hi akanksha9479, I had my transplant in 2010, 2 months later I was becoming jaundiced, bile build up and a lot of pain and discomfort. It was discovered I had a stricture, the join of the bile duct had become blocked and twisted. I had to have a bile duct reconstruction. I was in hospital for a week or so it’s been fine ever since. I hope your procedure rectifies yours and you won’t need surgery. All the best to you.

Hi dont be scared

It happened to my hubby at nearly 1 year post.

Corrected it with bile duct stents done under mrcp a few times across 1 year. All was fine.now nearly 8 years post.

Can be caused by scar tissue at the join.

Good luck
