BBC Breakfast 19th Oct - Alcohol Addiction

I’m not sure if many of you happened to be watching BBC Breakfast this morning. There was a section about alcohol addiction which was originally broadcasted as a BBC podcast program called, “Hooked - The Rock Bottom”. This particular program about alcohol recovery has recently won the, “Rachael Bland” award.

I have downloaded and edited a copy of the BBC Breakfast segment so that others may get to hear about this positive story: youtu.be/QnHHiVIIHUQ

The whole video podcast can be found at: bbc.co.uk/programmes/p07r50yk

The original radio podcast can be found at: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p07r14v1

Here Melissa talks of how she used to have Jack Daniels on her breakfast cereal. I should echo a word of warning that the radio podcast does contain some strong language.

This should serve as a warning to others, but also give hope that there is a way out and that all is not lost.

I take my hat off you Melissa Rice, for not only turning her life around, but for speaking out and raising awareness.

Way to go girl.

Hi Richard,

Yes, I saw the BBC Breakfast coverage. The more publicity about alcohol issues, the better.

😁

I agree, it's good to spread the word about how alcohol can poison us but much greater care needs to be taken to be an effective warning.

naming brands cannot be helpful

'strong language' isn't used by all addicts

It is such an important message it deserves crystal-clear and careful delivery to avoid any unintended hint that it's 'people like this' who are going to cop it when it is any of us.

Awesome Richard.
