First pre-assessment test done, a Heart Echocardiogram went well - apparently I have one 👍🏽👍🏽
First pre-assessment test: First pre... - British Liver Trust
First pre-assessment test
Hi Snorkers. Hope all goes well with the tests and also the assessment. Wishing you all the very best. Alf
Hi there I’ll second what Alf has said .hope it goes well. but I find I’m pleased for everyone who’s getting an assessment for TP as I know what we’ve been through to get that far. and the change you’ll experience after it. and now I’m on the other side what a difference to your life it’ll be. Take care. Paul
Thank you Paul - it is an emotional rollercoaster especially when you live on your own.
Hi snorks
Good to hear and Good luck for the second part of your Assessment!
I am interested as to why you had an echocardiogram at the first Assessment day? Did they say why?
I am particularly interested because although I had my liver TP about 13 months ago I also need a back operation. At the back Pre Op Assessment one of the Consultants said Ooh you have a heart murmur. I said yes I have had it for some years and that as part of my TP Assessment last year I had had to have a special myocardial heart stress test (which held up my getting on the TP list by 4 months) and the result of that test was 👍. He wasn’t interested and has insisted on an echocardiogram on the 10 Oct.
I understand he’s trying to play it safe but earlier in the back pre Op Assessment the Anaesthetist had read out to me a report from a Cardiologist about a previous 24 hour heart monitor test I had had in June and he said the report said my heart was fine - and oh yes - I had one too 👍.
So I am a little frustrated because this yet again delays my “urgent” (so I was told at the time of initial diagnosis) Op which I have now been waiting 15 months for ☹️. Boo hoo. Although to be fair a large part of this wait was obviously down to having the liver TP 😁.
So do you have a heart murmur too. I understand a heart murmur to be pretty common.
Sorry to waffle so much just to get to that simple question- but I didn’t want you to think I was being nosey just for the sake of it!
Miles
Hi Miles, don’t apologise for asking, we are all here to support each other and ask/answer as best we can in doing so.
I am not at the assessment stage yet, my Consultant has told me that due to my MELD of 58 and Child Pugh of C (it’s been like this for 16 months) that they have a small window of opportunity whilst I am healthy enough to put me forward, before doing so he wants to ensure that I can pass a Heart and Lung test and that the CT scan does not show anything that would be detrimental to a positive outcome to the full assessment.
Always feel free to ask anything.
Best regards - Dale
Hi Dale
Thank you very much for that! And for such a rapid response. 👍.
What answers have you had, if any yet? And I guess you have a couple of tests still to go?
Really hope you hit this window, I’m sure you know how much of an opportunity it is without me having to say anything at all!!
Really hope it goes well for you. 👍👍👍.
Miles
Hi Dale, congrats on the first test. I hope the rest have the same result, and you soon get listed.........onwards and upwards🤞🤞👍👍 😊😊😊
