Hi, you don’t say if it’s a phone or email message, I’ve been getting a phone call (5 in 2 days) saying that I have to phone a number that will put me in touch with my internet service provider and if I don’t phone them they will disconnect my broadband within 12-24 hours because they have detected illegal activity. I didn’t phone the number they suggested, instead I phoned my isp. I explained everything to them and they said that it’s a scam and not to act on it

Hi Trish, Chrissy & Countrywalks, you could try, but if blocked, they can just go again with a new ID. I get at least 3 scam phone calls a day, either computer, ISP or HMRC ( threatening me with court action if I don't pay) scams, but don't answer any number I don't recognise. The onyt time I answer the phone is on a withheld number, because they are usually Doctor or Hospital calling me. Because these scammers have an unlimited number of phone numbers, you can't block them all with BT's call protect.

Be safe,

David

Hi David

I like you get numerous bad emails daily and I never reply to any as I'm quite good at sussing them out. Delete is the best button or block! I never open any....

However I'm fairly knew to the forum compared to others . Is there anyway you can block these scam people following you ? I know how to do it on FB ....

My home incoming scam phone calls are now vetted and I only answer to friends on my landline ! Brilliant service by Talk Talk ..

Take care all

Trish

Hi Countrywalks

If you have received a possible scam message please report it to HealthUnlocked via the 'More' button next to the message.

Can you also please PM me details as if it is someone saying they are medical practitioners offering services I need to investigate.

thank you for bringing this up

Did the message involve money being sent?. I know a few weeks ago some of the ladies on the myova site received some , which was particularly disturbing as many are undergoing. Chemo and very sick. They were told to report. it to Admin, so if concerned I suggest you do the same. I hope they haven,t distressed you ?. Xxx

This thread reminds me of all the calls I used to get in the office sometimes. Some from the more genuine telesales places wanting to know if you wanted solar panels or had an accident recently, but also the more scam ones. Used to keep them on the phone for ages. Some good phrases to use if you want a laugh:

"Can you speak up dear I'm blind" was a good one. To the solar panel call centre, "do you have anything in nuclear?" and finally to the "I believe you've had an injury from a road accident recently" call centre, "yes, I hurt my wrist when I put my 7 iron through his windscreen". All went down with much hilarity in the office.

Not forgetting of course, when they ask your date of birth to give yesterday's date. Followed up when they question it with the response, "well you seem to think I was born yesterday!".

Not that helpful for email scams, but good for the telephone pests.

Hi

Any emails that I even suspect as not real I just delete , my son told me look at the address and if it’s a lot of numbers and hashtag comers they are scams , but if you don’t recognise the address or sometimes they put a name you recognise then a lot of numbers or hash marks as address delete them.

With the phone I brought a phone from Tesco’s you must be able to get it from other places that screens the caller asking them to say who they are then you except them but pressing a number that allows them to get through in the future but nuisance calls hang up because they can’t give a name or you just reject it and if you recognise a name but want to check you ring them on the number you know 😃.

I hope that all makes sense 🤪

Stay safe all
