So, life was looking good until last Friday when I was hospitalised for 5 days with an acute lung infection... Doctors think it best to delay my referral to the transplant team until I have built back up some strength 😢 Still going home today 👍👍👍

Good afternoon,
I am sorry to hear your news, very disappointing for you. Having said that, you do need to be as fit as you can possibly be to undergo all the testing for transplant assessment.
I wish you a very speedy recovery.
regards
Thank you - I would rather only go once and have the best chance, if that makes sense.
Hi Snorkers, I know that the Scottish Liver Transplant Unit would prefer to see people too soon rather than too late. I wonder if you can still go ahead with the referral to transplant unit so they can take over your care, they are the experts and have access to more resources to help you build up your strength, dieticians etc. etc.
If you have any means of requesting you still get referred I would push for it. If you wait too long it could mean you never get the chance and at least if you are on t/p clinic radar you will be getting the best possible care.
My hubby was under Edinburgh for a year before he was assessed for transplant and even though he is no longer on the list - because his condition actually improved - he still remains under care of liver doctors there as well as local gastro.
Wishing you the best of luck.
Katie
