Yes thanks. Having read up I've put mine down to muscle wastage. I read somewhere one of the symptoms was called Staggering. Here's me sober & still staggering due to weak legs not my old hollow legs. I generally stick to this forum now & BLT for advice. Sorry I can't help you more as my GP sorta ignores my aches & pains. Don't think he knows to be honest. Newly qualified but not long enough in the tooth yet, God bless him.

Hi Charlie

I’ve had weak legs for about 7 years. ☹️. I had a liver Transplant and hoped that might “cure” the problem but it hasn’t. Then, about the same time I was diagnosed with Spinal Stenosis and arthritis. I couldn’t have this operated on until at least a year after the Transplant. But it looks like at last the operation should take place “soon” 👍.

I’ll report back to say whether it makes any difference!

Hope your legs get better “naturally”!!

Angus

Hi

I am PT Jan 2018 before that my legs really ached especially at night sometimes I just wouldn’t sleep at all it was mainly my hamstring it felt like spiders crawling in my veins it was soul destroying the only thing that helped was massage with a cold gel (biofreeze) They improved after transplant but it took 12 months I’m now back in Gym, swimming and even played golf last week... Try and stay positive it’s tough but things get better

Hi Charlie

I described to one one of the transplant coordinators at Kings college hospital that sometimes my legs felt as If I was walking uphill continuously but at the same time getting stuck in treacle. I know exactly how you feel.

Hi Boot

I'm not to bad thanks. Just had a night in local hospital due to a pain that I'd not had before. Given morphine via a cannula which was a huge relief , monitored with tests and came home the following lunchtime. Been called for transplant 3 times now but still not done. Hopefully it will happen soon.

Hi Charlie, fynny you should ask this now. Last night, I had a terrible time getting to sleep. My left leg felt like it was half asleep and it was driving me crazy. About two months ago, I also started feeling weakness in my legs after being on my feet for very long. I have no idea what is causing this! I do know that this liver disease is constantly presenting itself with new problems. Hang in there though. I've decided to take one day at a time, being thankful for each one I have been given

God bless,

Jo

Thanks to all that replied. I’ve booked in with my GP as my legs and hips are so painful and weak and covered in bruises now. ☹️

Charlie, if you're open to some practical measures, have you tried lavender scented epsom salts in a warm bath? Very soothing for muscle aches, also a mild laxative effect. I have also found arnica gel reduces bruising fast. I have some Biofreeze spray too, misplaced it at the moment. Good to hear that it helps.

Hi again Charlie.

I forgot to mention that before my back problem but after I “got” cirrhosis my legs were very often weak. I couldn’t stand still for more than about five minutes before legs went numb. If walking sometimes - well often - my legs would go heavy and they wouldn’t do exactly what I wanted. ☹️. 10 minutes of sitting down and they recovered - but obviously to reoccur 10 to 15 minutes later. Do you get that?

I struggled to convince the Hepatologists of this and was largely ignored ☹️. But I never ever got bruises so it is certainly something you should follow up!

Good luck. 👍.

That sounds like the infamous muscle wasting we hear so much about. Since you are using past tense, does that mean that you are not experiencing the same problem after TP? 🙂

Well I still get leg problems but they are different, i.e. not so many numb legs but my legs are just very weak all the time which has been put down to my spinal stenosis. We shall see - well I hope we shall see if I can get past this current pre-op hurdle.....

I too have this, ive been diagnosed with degeneration of the facet joint, lower back and hips, he referred me to pain management who have referred me to another specialist who will decide that I can have an injection.

Do you get pins and needles in your feet, I get them when I've been sat at a kitchen table with both feet in the floor!! Hope you get some relief soon. Take care of yourself Lynne

Hi Charlie - may I ask - do you have AF - irregular heart beats with quite a gap beteen beats sometimes. I have had a burning in my legs for several years e.g. after walking upstairs. Consultant has put it down to AF which I have now had for 14 years.

Have been getting horrible cramps in my legs, not corresponding to anything I can figure out. I have been trying slow stretching and it seems to help a little.

in reply toBootandall

Can you do the splits yet? :-)

I've never been able too 👎

Those were the days my friend :-) We thought they'd never end :-) We'd sing and dance, forever and a day :-)

I never knew I had a chance to die laughing, but the odds are improving by the minute.

Hi Charlie,

Husband has various complaints about "things" not working as well as they used to. His complaint has mainly been pins & needles and one of his doctors, from the VA, suggested Alpha Lipoic Acid so he takes 1 600 mg capsule at night. He says it seems to help. Not sure this would help you, but you could ask your doctor and see what he/she says.

Best wishes,

Mary
