The GI said my daughter could stop the Lactulose and continue on Xifaxin. I forgot to ask if we wean her or just stop. Anyone given directions? I will wean her but I was hoping to have her off before next ammonia labs.

Crafter,

I was also told to stop lactulose but continue to take xifaxin. Doc said ok to just stop and I did for the most part but mod or less weaned myself over a couple of weeks. I did it that way for my own piece of mind and let my bowels adjust. Good luck

Thank you for your reply. You confirmed what I was thinking. My daughter is 42 with Angelman Syndrome (No speech, seizures, Type 2D) and depends on me to make decisions for her. She has been taking the Lactulose for quite awhile so I thought it better to be prudent and take our time.

Good afternoon Crafter1950, Unfortunately no one on this forum is able to give you medical advice regarding medication. May I suggest you contact your doctor on Monday.

Best wishes
