Something has been bothering me for a while so just wanted to know if it’s just me or has anyone else experienced this?
I have naturally quite a fair complexion, but when my liver is slightly bad there will be a noticeable difference in my colour. Also, I will easily burn in the sun! Is this a thing???

Hi
I'm sorry I've not experienced that but I'm sure there will be someone along soon to help you. What colour dies your skin go?, Take care Lynne
It turns dark. Sometimes just little patches. I don’t notice it that much but it will change subtly however, ppl who see me after like weeks, start questioning?
I don’t go out in the sun that much. I mean I’ll always sit in a shade. I found when my liver is playing up my skin tone changes. 😔 when it’s a bit better I had comments from friends that my skin is glowing 🤔
My wife has mentioned it to me tonight about my colour. I had a Hep A booster on Friday and not felt well since and my colour has changed. I’ve gone yellow before but never in my eyes. I always remember my mum saying my dads eyes went bright yellow when he had Hep B.
Hi Steven, I’m so sorry to hear that, I hope you start feeling better soon.
I think because the change happens gradually, sometimes it is hard to tell until someone points it out to you. Of course when it’s really bad then it’s becomes more obvious.
Once I met a lady (she was admitted) in the hospital lifts, she was probably going out for some fresh air. Seriously, I’ve never seen a person so yellow in my life. The few minutes in the life we shared she told me that she has a liver condition. I was really shocked that day. I just hope and wish that everyone suffering gets better.
When I was in Hospital having just had my TP this youngish chap was wheeled into the Ward and, like your lady, he was exceptionally yellow. Then day by day he got a darker yellow and then even darker still! He had not been through any of the Assessment process but I told him that I bet he’d be having an imminent Transplant (not very “correct” of me in retrospect!). He didn’t believe me. He also deteriorated from being a happy loquacious chappy to being almost introverted hiding behind the bed curtains all the time. Within three days of coming into the Ward he had had the Transplant. But of course I never saw him directly after the op but did see him at my first outpatient clinic a couple of weeks later. The change back to his normal colour was staggering, he was truly almost unrecognisable and was back to his chatty self. It was so great to see 👍, and nice to know that in dire situations a TP can and does take place very rapidly indeed.
Dear Angus, i think sometimes patients have more knowledge then doctors because they actually live with a condition and understand first hand. Only if you can get a certificate at the same time🤔 we would be masters by now!!
I’m really happy for your guy. it is so lovely to hear a positive outcome. Hard to imagine what he must’ve gone through. TC
