Does anyone know people who were exposed as adults and cleared the virus on their own? Any and all replies would be encouraged. Thanks
Clearing hep b: Does anyone know people... - British Liver Trust
Clearing hep b
Hello Nikolah, I do believe that Hepatitis B shouldn't need any treatment and should just run it's course. Please see this NHS page for more information: nhs.uk/conditions/hepatitis...
Although this site does say, under the section, "Treatment for acute hepatitis B" that you may take ibuprofen for any tummy pain, I would personally avoid ibuprofen as this medication is known to cause liver issues.
I hope this information is of help. Good Luck
Thank you. I see so many people here that have chronic and it’s a bit concerning that’s why. Being in the acute stage was just getting scared at reading all the posts and still going through my own symptoms and fears
Please read the link more carefully! If you go to gp and get the shots soon after exposure you may be able to avoid chronic infection.
It’s in the acute stage and not sure when it was contracted. The dr didn’t offer me nothing. Said it’s acute and should resolve on its own. But the wasn’t any consolation in my mind
Hello Nikolah, Whilst MOST people who have acute Hepatitis B will go on to clear the virus ,It is essential to have your blood tests repeated after 6 months from initial diagnosis to ensure this is the case. If the virus is still prsent at that point you will be classed as having chronic Hepatitis B and monitored and/or treated accordingly.
I have copied the link to the British Liver Trust information regarding Hepatitis B.

Greetings from over the pond! What is the chance to clear this and why do some develop chronic? Seems like the luck of the draw?
Hello Nikolah, the current statistics are that 95% of people will clear the acute virus but as our lovely forum members have said, you should be re tested after 6 months and there are treatments available should it become chronic . I have included a link below which may help further - hepbpositive.org.uk/
Best wishes
Hello again, if you are in the U.S. we have access to medications that can suppress the viral load if you do progress to chronic infection. You must get your gp to refer you to a liver specialist for follow up!
I had a hep B infection without realising it many years ago. I am now hep B immune as I have the antibodies. For a while I used to give blood more frequently so as to harvest my gammaglobulin for the vaccination of others.
So ur body cleared it?
Indeed - without me knowing I had it. It was great to be able to join the special blood donation panel for the extraction of gammaglobulin
At what age do u think u cleared it? I’ve read some people can and others can’t. That’s why I’m asking.
How old are u? They say adults clear it while kids don’t. Just wondering if that was true in your case. Thanks for sharing w me!
