Abdominal pain

Hi all, thanks for all the support here. This forum has helped me so much throug all the medical issues. I had the TIPS done last July, and when I went into have an ultrasound done (6months post op) they told me my TIPS has occluded, which means there was a blood clot in the stent.

I was sedated and half awake as they went back down my neck to replace parts of the stent in my liver. I just had an ultrasound yesterday and it looks well. Proper blood flow and such. But I mentioned my abdominal pain but they did not see anything on the ultra sounds.

Has anyone out there experienced pain after a TIPS? My pain feels like you have been jogging for a bit, and you get that cramp... but it’s much more severe where it drops me to my knees. Ive had it under my right rib cage, and also my left side. I had only two episodes last year, but since my last surgery in February, I’ve had multiple and they seem to be worse with each attach. (Lingering pain prior and after)

I will see the hepotologist next week thankfully but no one seems to know what I mean about the pain, and what’s causing it. Just seeing if anyone else has had similar symptoms.

Thank you all in advance for any comments. I appreciate it.

Aileen

Hi Aileen,

I'm sorry we have no experience with this.

Hopefully, someone with more experience will see your post and reply soon.

If you are in the UK, the Liver Trust has a phone you can call and they might have some suggestions for you.

Best wishes,

Mary

I was wondering how you are doing now post-tips? Has the pain eased with time? Hope you are keeping well,
