Hi
I am new here so not even sure if I am posting in the right place !
In 2017 I was admitted to hospital with jaundice. I was treated with IV fluids and vitamins and had ultrasound and CT scan. Diagnosis was pancreatitis and consultant said there was no scarring on liver. However discharge letter to my GP mentioned mild cirrhosis. I was sent home with strict instructions not to drink alcohol which I did successfully until about 5 months ago.
I suffer from severe depression and anxiety so started self-medicating again (idiotic I know). Last week I decided enough was enough so went to the GP to request an antidepressant. He looked at my yellowish eyes and took bloods. Bilirubin was very very high. Didn't get ALT or AST but will ask about them when I go back on Monday. I know have an appointment for an ultrasound and possibly CT scan at the liver clinic which has sent anxiety levels through the roof. I don't really have any other symptoms- no nausea or weight loss. No bleeding or HE but do occasionally get muscle cramps. I might have mild ascites and oedema or maybe its just fat lol.
Sorry it's such a long post but I am in a bit of a panic. I suppose my question is what is the highest Bilirubin level any member has had and how much did it reduce with total abstinence, healthy diet and exercise ? I know I need ALT/AST for fuller picture but only have Bilirubin for now. I think nurse also said platelets were a bit low but I wasn't really taking it in by that time.
TIA
