Hi all. I had a lump removed from the top of my liver over 2 weeks ago. The surgeon removed a small wedge with the lump inside. Turned out to be scar tissue and liver is fine
I am experiencing this dull pulling stabbing sensation where the recession was done and feel nauseas. Is this normal? I've been told this is a major op and should be patient. I have been for my follow up visits to the doctor and have been advised that all is ok.
Just want this pain to go. Anyone in this group experiencing something similar or has been through this type of surgery?
Would live to hear feedback
Thanks

Hi. I had a benign tumour removed from the right lobe of my liver 3 1/2 years ago. It is major surgery and will take a long, long time to recover. I was very sore, and had all sorts of strange sensations in the abdomen for a long time. I had been given pain killers to deal with the pain for quite a while afterwards. If you are worried, then ask your doctor. I did that after a few months, when I was still feeling sick, the area was very tender, and still a little swollen. They gave me another scan, and said it was ok. If nothing else, it will put your mind at rest.
Thank you so much for your reply. Yes everyone is different and for my surgeon to say I will be ok in 10 days was a huge generalization. I dont have a fever or infection and my bloodwork is all great. It's just the pain post op that I have to work through. Also the procedure itself that blows up the tummy with gas irritates the diaphragm. I find my pain is more acute when I wake up in the morning for some reason. Perhaps it's the position i sleep in during the night. I think it's going to take me a long time and i just have to rely on my pain meds if I have to take them. May I ask how long did it take in total for you to recover and be pain free?
Another thing..did you also get referred pain in your back correlating to where your liver was cut? I find that when the area where liver is cut gets very sore then my back gets too sore as well..? Thanks
