Fabulous February!

alfredthegreat profile image

Hi my forum friends. What a month this has been for me! Firstly at my Liver clinic a couple of weeks or so ago I was told that all my post transplant test results were really good and that they didn't need to see me again for 4 months (just an interim visit at 2 months with my gastro/liver specialist at local hospital). Then This Tuesday at my GP's diabetes clinic I was told that my urine and blood tests are excellent and that my diabetes is 'in remission' (after 20 years!). Then today after an Xray of my spine the bone specialist said that I could now discard my brace...……….WOW!! Goodbye Robocop!! ……..What a month for great news. To think that this time last year I was classed as terminal. It just shows never, never, never give up. Wishing everything good for everyone. Alf

Amazing news. My partner has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes post transplant due to medication. Take care.x

alfredthegreat in reply toh0b0

Thanks Hobo. I was told that my diabetes would probably get worse post transplant but it hasn't. I have been eating really healthily after diagnosis for nearly 5 years though, that is apart from when they told my wife to feed me up pre transplant and again for a few weeks post transplant. I wasn't really feeling my best to enjoy the extra treats then though, lol. Alf

Thank you. I'm so looking forward to spring and summer this year. Think we might be getting spring already! Best wishes. Alf.

As you say it is indeed a fabulous February! Yea!!!!!!

I for one, could not be happier at your news.

Seriously nothing could make me any happier this day.

Well done.

Awesome news, and a bonus lesson in there for all of waiting, to hang in there.

There is a way out. Stay focused and believe in the professionals.

So happy I am.

So, stay strong, stay happy, and stay on two feet or it’s back to the wardrobe you go.

Great news brother! Been a long road for you and its finally all coming together for the very best and there is so much more up you can still go! It's in great timing to as this winter is drawing to a close hopefully soon and it going to be spring walking weather before we know it. Get over to that guitar shop on two feet !

Ps... can I have your robocop leg? I'm going to ask for those metal boobs we saw a couple of days ago as well. Think I'm going to build myself a cyborg woman to slap my peep when I get out of line. L.M.P.O 😊

alfredthegreat profile image
alfredthegreat in reply to

Hey there mate. I shall be running to that guitar shop in the next couple of weeks, lol. I shall look out for that Maton that you're after. You're welcome to Robocop gear ( I get to keep it). I'll probably have it mounted on display as a reminder to stay upright. With those metal boobs and Robocop outfit it would be a good start to your cyborg woman. I've also got some chain mail gloves you can have. I have those still from when I had an African parrot (found in our garden) called Tyson who seemed to think that I was dinner! There could be some good painful slapping done with those chain mail gloves, lol. The sun is shining here. It's like spring already. I'm gearing myself up for another try at a holiday. Yahoooooooooo!!

Grank and I are absolutely delighted for you both. It’s the most beautiful spring day in Wales and reading for post first thing has definitely put a spring in our step. We have decided that we will never give up hope and make the most of every single day.

Thank you. No, never give up! Staying positive is the way. As I have said in previous posts last February I was a no hoper, terminal, that's your lot!! but I always remained positive. In my mind I thought well, ok, I'm going to die but the Grim Reaper's not getting me sometime soon!! Now I'm here looking out on this beautiful sunny day with hopefully years in front of me. If it can happen for me...………….... All the very, very best to you both and hoping for good things for you. Alf

Hello Alf.

I've been watching your chapters from afar, and I'd like to offer my very best wishes, although all your prayers seem to have already been answered? It's fabulous news, and I wish the same for all those on this site in similar circumstances.

Stay warm, stay happy, but above all, stay well.

Thank you so much. I intend to do my best to stay healthy and happy and make up for lost time with my family.

Amazing news! We were discussing the music for his funeral this time last year. Now, less than 3 months PT he's building himself a workshop in the garden!!
