2nd clinic

Here we go! Hubby went to 2nd clinic today and has been admitted. His scan this morning showed concern, so he had a big scan tonight at teatime. He will get results tomorrow, and hopefully home he is telling me. Anyone else had this happen?

Hi Agnes. Sorry that your hubby has had to go back in. I had to go back in after only being discharged a few days but that was due to my tac levels. I have heard of other people going back in and for a variety of reasons. hopefully some of those people will reply to your post soon.He is in the very best hands. I hope that he is back home very soon.. Very best wishes. Alf

Hi Alf, hope you are well.

He's expecting home tomorrow, I hope he's right or he will be really dissapointed! I know it's common to end up in again, just wondered if anyone been taken back in for same reason.

Hi Agnes. I'm doing well thanks. Got an issue again at the moment with Tac levels but I had another blood test today so i'm sure will be sorted in days. Spine is healing nicely

Hi, Agnes and Mikey; yes, we’re all in good company. Been to Emergency Room about 7 times after diagnosis in July, 2018. Never know what stuff to expect next. ER was 2nd home to me. Nurses and doctors thought I was just a wacky, aging lady. Gastro departmemt finally hired Pharm MD. The new doctor can work with liver cirrhotic people and just answered concerns via telephone. Cheaper for me and the hospital. Happy to have new hepatic doctor with knowledge of water soluble meds, diet, exercise, support groups, lab tests- no X-ray. X-rays bad toxins for liver. Blessings. Hi Agnes sorry to hear your hubby was admitted. Hopefully he’ll be cleared for discharge tomorrow. My husband has been admitted directly from clinic a couple of times and once we got a phone call en-route home after clinic to return. There were various reasons/concerns. He’s had infection, rejection and bloods going off and after various, scans, tests and treatment he has never had to have anything major done except altering meds and having to attend clinics more frequently. The team at ERI are great and will sort your hubby out. It’s still very early days post transplant, try not to get too down. Thinking of you, love Pam xx

They always say the transplant teams that is, if your going to have problems they prefer it to happen in the first 12 months as it's easy to get on top off .. I was admitted 4 times in my first year and fingers crossed haven't been admitted for 18 months now ..

Please don't panic he will be fine it's very normal especially after such a huge procedure x

18 months is great, long may it last. I just hope he gets home tomorrow, as that is what they have led him to believe. He was in 24 days post transplant, the goalpost had to keep getting moved. Seems strange sitting on my own after having him here a couple of weeks.

Just go with the flow especially the first year... I learnt the hard way they would tell me I was going home and then a slight temperature rise would keep me in and it's great they are so cautious, they want this liver to last a lifetime and that's why we the patients and the families just have to have the patience of a saint, not many people have an easy ride post transplant but what we all have is a better one and lots of hope and looking after x

We were at clinic yesterday just after 10, I was the very stressed looking woman trying to steer my brother in a wheelchair. I'm sorry your husband has been readmitted, they seem to be on top of everything so quickly there, they won't take any chances which is the best. I hope it's just a precaution and he does get discharged soon. I think our next appointment is 1030 or 11 next week,may see you and your husband there. Take care

We drove thru from Glasgow yesterday and it took us 90 minutes with the snow then had to hunt for a wheelchair and the car parks were full so had to wait for a space, ended up late for the clinic. My brother has used the patient transport service before too when I couldn't get him in my wee mini, it's a shame they can't let you go with him

I booked for one person, not thinking. I will end up back at work at some point so decided to give him independence, and the driver takes care of him x

Hubby was only readmitted within the first week of discharge as potassium levels were too high then they kept him for 4 days to monitor him on his new anti rejection.

I'm sure you will get a clear picture tomorrow when the results have been reviewed. Hopefully it's just precautionary, if it was an urgent issue I sure they would have his scan marked as urgent for results to be available not long after the scan x

He’s getting a stent put in on Friday, a narrowing in his main artery. I assume it’s near the graft. Upped his immunosuppressant for the time being and put him in aspirin . If it was urgent it would have been done by now. Thanks for all the kind wishes x
