Hope you're all as well as can be. I'm coming up to 2 years post transplant and for the past couple of months have been having some heartburn. Nothing severe but it's often there, particularly evenings. I don't drink so that can't be the cause. Getting a little worried as this was one of my early symptoms way before getting diagnosed with cirrhosis. Asked at the liver clinic a few weeks ago for some sort of scan to put my mind at ease but was told they only investigate further if there's something wrong with the bloods. In the mean time I was advised to take gaviscon. Well bloods came back fine, not sure if there's something else I should be pursuing or I'm just panicking over nothing?
Hi K. My hubby ( my new 1 😉) had similar thing, heartburn and indigestion. After blood test proved everything normal, he was refferred to have a camera stuck down his throat ... (recommends accept the offer of a sedative ) they discovered he had a sliding hiatus hernia and prescribed a 1 a day tablet. Cant remember what they are called and none in the medicine cabinet at the mo which means hes probably weaned himself off them by us reducing the amount of gluten in was having in his diet. I will get back to you about the name of the meds but they will only be on prescription. So in the meantime Id see your GP about a refferal and take gluten out for a while see if that makes a difference

Hi
I had this a few years ago, ended up having thus tube up nose and down throat for 24 hours, called 24 hour manometry, testing for acid. Not very pleasant but proved I was making alot if acid. I ended up having an op called fundoplication, part of stony wrapped around oesophagus, told I can't be sick with this but I have been!!! It worked a treat! My muscles done work in my oesophagus either, so I have to have water to help my food in its way. Hope this is a help to you. Take care Lynne

Thanks Laura, Lynne. I'll see the GP, see what they say. Freaking out even more now 😬. Definitely asking for sedation if I have to have an endoscopy. Had it once with the throat spray, never again!

Yes, it's horrible
Thinking of you
Omeprazole... be warned it does cause side effects when taken daily, Ray was waking in the morning with anxiety. By eating less gluten eating little and often rather than large meals he has the reflux under control without taking them at all. If we know we are going out and likely to eat more he will take a tablet that day. They really do work well though.

I'll give the gluten free diet a go even though until now I felt gluten intolerance wasn't even a real thing 😀
I used to take omeprazole but I need to find and treat the cause rather than just symptoms x
Oh that's strange mine has been getting worse past couple of months and I brought it up yesterday at my appointment... I have been referred for an endoscopy and also gaviscon 4 times a day ... They have said it's probably nothing and just over time with the aspirin and steroids mixing together in the acid in our stomachs
It's eased my mind as this week I thought I was having a heart attack it was that painful (I get more anxious at Christmas time though, due to spending the last six Christmases in hospital lol)
I'm not on aspirin or steroids so not sure what's happening there... Not been taking gaviscon either, it's never been that bad. It's probably indigestion; I'm trying to bulk up so tend to eat loads especially on training days 🐷
How did your appointment go yesterday? Some good news I hope? X
And it went ok, alt and bilirubin rising but they said they not worried just yet I got to have 4 mg and 5 mg alternative days as if I don't get confused enough 😂 but holding off changing meds (thanks for asking x)
If it's not too severe yours try peppermint tea before or after a meal it calms the acid down, I hope it eases x
