Hi everyone,

We ask that followers do not post test results and personal information with a request for medical advice.

This forum is here to share experiences and provide support to each other and we would advise against posting any test results or asking for specific medical advice. This is not a medical forum and should not be used to try and make diagnoses or replace advice from your own medical practitioners who have a much wider view of your health and test results.

There are links below for the British Liver Trust community guidelines and the British Liver Trust website.

Many thanks for your ongoing support and understanding.

I understand why you don't want people posting results and asking for advice but I'm getting nowhere with my consultant...in fact I have been waiting 22 weeks to even see a consultant. 22 weeks wondering what my condition is caused by and if I should be starting treatment or medication. I have asked for advice from the community and have received a lot of support from them. Even trying to speak to a secretary is nigh on impossible. I can honestly say this forum has been a lifeline for me. Deb

Can you please define personal information.

Age is personal information

Sex is personal information

Where you have tp is personal information

When you had your tp is personal information

How I FEEL is very personal information

What you eat is personal information

How you exercise is personal information

Ete

Etc

Please clarify or remove that particular statement?

Hi Smiles,

I'm not a moderator, but the following paragraph on what is personal info is at the bottom of one of the links provided:

"For your own safety, we strongly recommend you do NOT disclose personal information such as your full name, email address, home address, telephone number, or any other information which could directly or indirectly identify you."

Its basically the usual common sense standard internet advice. Hope that's helpful.

Hi Trust.

I'm curious to know how people receive their test results? Through the post? Over the phone ? Are they called to make a GP /hospital appointment to receive and discuss them? Surely if this is the case, then that is the time and place to ask the question, with the qualified medical experts, what do my results mean?

Or knowing you are going for these tests, make a GP appointment in advance so if/when you receive them through the post, you already have an appointment in place to discuss the results, understand what they mean and ask what do we do next?

As you so rightly point out no one here is qualified to explain them as everyone has a different opinion, and outcome which can be misconstrued by the postee to the good or otherwise. .

Always good to offer support here and or guidance but test results should indeed be left to the experts.
