There tend to be two types. The Mercedes or the Lexus

I got the Mercedes 😊. Whilst I'm sure it will fade with time, was wondering if plastic surgery would be an option to improve its appearance? Vain I know 😁. Can't seem to find any information online.

Klodian is such a nice name. Please explain?

Cheers,

Brett

in reply to Brett11

Thanks Brett. It's of Albanian origin. Makes for a cool username too I guess 😊

in reply to

Have you tried rubbing bio oil on it twice a day ? Apparently it helps reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks.

in reply to

Funny you should mention that. I've been selling Bio Oil through my business for the last 6 months but never thought of using it myself. Need to learn my products better 😅. Might give it a go 👍

My scar is huge runs in a straight line from my ribs to just above my belly button the right around to my right side almost to my back 😱😱

My sons is like a backwards L shape. He had it almost 8 months ago and it is fading well. I actually think the scars from his drains look worse, one was really low and was right where his underwear and trouser sat and they kept rubbing and it took ages to heal. Overall I was surprised how neat the wound looked when he came out of surgery.

Mine too! The backwards L.

Really!

I thought they freezed dry the liver then made you swallow it with a glass of water to make it big again? Then all the baby robot pills that you swallowed come to life and sew all the bits and pieces together and then you poo out the old liver?

Or am I wrong?

Or is auntie google doctor wrong?

in reply to Brett11

Umm Brett, stop looking into next year and get real

😀😀

I haven't had a transplant but my stomach is like a dot to dot book from various surgeries. The most notable scar I have is my thyroidectomy scar although it was done 26 years ago it's never faded. I also have scars on both my wrists into my lower palms from carpal tunnel surgery.

in reply to GrandmaDylan

Hey up dy - what do you get if you join up the dots? Perhaps you could start a guess my dots shape competition on here?

Seriously tho - poor you 😢

Had my last transplant in 1995 so I’ve got the old fashion scar. Runs just above waist line all the way from the right to just below my left rib cage and a verticals scar that runs up the middle to my breastbone. The rest of my tum looks like a patchwork quilt with scars from other surgeries. My badges of honour.

in reply to Smyally

Hi smiley

Why is that an old fashion scar? I had my t/p 5 weeks ago and mine is just like yours - i could send you a photo if youd like hahahaha Yuk! 😀

Would love ( not ) to post a picture but we don’t want to be putting anyone off their food. A lot of people feel sick enough as it is. Let’s just say I’ve got a couple of friends who have had a transplant in more recent years and made a generalisation.

in reply to Smyally

Thats interesting smiley. May be it depends how bad your liver is and/or how old you arelol

Actually, my question was quite interesting with the replies given.

It was a question that everyone thinks but no one asks.

Mine is Mercedes which is appropriate was a mechanic till got ill. I assume the AA is auto association which yea certainly sounds right. Photos?? Ummm, but certainly a medal of gratitude to donor and family, all that have dedicated themselves with there dedication, knowledge and so much kindness in all walks of life to get me where I am and our medical services.

in reply to chugalong

Hi chug have they given you details of donor? So far all i have been told is that he was my size and age! I want to write but cant until i get moreinfo 😧

chugalong profile image
chugalong in reply to

It took me a while to write but a weight lifted when I did. Never got an answer but intend to write on again. All I know was my donor was an age match. I think my being here and their thoughtfulness and kindness is more than enough for me to keep in touch.

in reply to Brett11

Oh - I’m in the RAC....

Theyre Ok but they give you Ruddy Awful Coffee in lieu of Vimto .....

Ask a 5 year old for help. Seriously, I have before. They put me to shame with what they know 😂

in reply to

If you put your finger on her face and hold it a menu comes up click on open in new tab or words to that effect. You will then get a list of all her posts. Click on the top 1 when that post opens up scroll down a little bit and a work of human art comes up. Beautiful stitching even I would be proud of and an equally stunning scar next to it .... Hope you find it

I always say a big backwards L. My surgeon was awesome, for my second transplant he went in exactly where the original staples were!

It’s a big scar. Remember, they take out all organs except for lungs and heart. Then they lift your rib cage up to your chin, or there about, then they put new liver in, and put others organs back to fit the new liver. My new one is very big, but myspleen is very large also, so it balances out. That’s why many of us have lover back pain, from lifting the rib cage so high.

I met a woman after my first TX, and she had so much back pain, but she also had crones, and the surgery caused seven fractures. Poor thing.

Sorry if that was too graphic, but it always shocks me that people don’t know what the surgery entails.

in reply to dckimberly

Hey wow, well be amazed - I didn’t know all that. Yoiks, its no wonder I’ve still got quite a bit of pain, but i expected that even not knowing the gory detail you described 😀

in reply to dckimberly

Messed up again! I meant “be shocked” actually you could be both shocked and amazed 😀

in reply to dckimberly

Incredible what they can do. Dare I look on you tube? I remember having my 1st caesarian section looking at the ceiling wishing there was a mirror there so I could have a bird's eye view of the op. Am I weird?

Yes
