Thank you everyone for your replies. Yes it seems we are all different but with a lot of common ailments post transplant. I've had a fairly good day today compared to previous days post transplant. My wife and I actually visited my sister for a couple of hours (first trip out that wasn't a medical appointment!). Very tired now but still up and sitting in a chair. My pain is there in the background but not too severe and I think that now is the time to start cutting down on the pain killers. Backache is a problem when sitting up but even that is getting less by the day. Good luck to you all on this journey x

5 weeks post transplant.
Yes, there are common problems but we are by no means identical in the way we recover. All I can say is that the health niggles I have today, 15 months post tx are nothing to how I felt pre transplant. Also I know that even if I’d have had to wait 12 hrs more it would have been to late. We owe so much to our donors.
I think that had my transplant not happened when it did that I would have become too weak for transplant. I am very grateful to my donor for my extra time on this earth. My first grandchild is now 3 months old and only 6 months ago I doubted that I would live to see him born. I am hopefully going to be around now to see him start school and who knows, I may be lucky enough to see him get married!
My 2nd daughter was taking her bac (equivalents of A level) when I was in hosp pre transplant. I am so very glad she managed to get to her first choice uni!
Although my girls are 22 and 18 they still need me. As for my hubby, well imagine it was the woman you had loved for 27 yrs who was ill and you were told to say goodbye! Thankfully I had the tx 6 hours later!
We really are so lucky to have our new lives
