I think the whole organ donation week should be about raising awareness of not only organ donation, but of telling family members of your final wishes. Too many people simply become organ donors, only to find out that their own loved ones and family members had refused to honour their request after death. This means that a persons final wish maybe denied.
This is particularly common with people in the black, Asian and ethnic minority communities here the situation is even more critical. More donors are needed to address an increase in patients from these communities dying whilst waiting for an organ transplant.
Also it should be mentioned that just because person has died, that automatically are their organs always suitable for transplant.
Just a thought.
