Why do you need them? Have they been suggested by medics. Is it a pro-biotic yoghurt you are after. There are brands like Yakult in the supermarket but I think there are better ones.
Not something we've ever been told about or recommended, never mentioned by hospital dietician.

Hello,
Thank you for your swift response.
I’m 6 weeks post transplant and was informed at my educational that all dairy had to be both pasturised and no live bacteria? Can you even get yogurts like this? Thanks. Leigh.
No idea, would be better to check with your transplant team again (dietician) to see if there are actual brands that they suggest. Now that you've made it clear on what stage of liver journey you are at others in the same boat might be able to suggest or advice what they eat along these lines.
All the best for your continued recovery.
Katie
Scrap my earlier suggestion until you check with your medical team, I didn't know what it was you were actually looking for.
Many thanks, keep well 😊
All milk and yogurt is pasteurised in the uk unless you buy it straight from farm/farmer so any yogurt made from uk milk will be pasteurised. Some add live cultures back in after pasteurisation, it'll usually say live on the tub if so. As Katie says though, double check with medical team. Xxx
Sorry I think you may have misunderstood. Unless the yogurt states it is live it will be ok.
We have the problem in restaurants and hotels so just go and buy ordinary yogurts ourselves.
Some hotels put it in a large dish and when we ask if it is live they dont know half the time what we are talking about. So we dont risk it.
So unless it states it is live you will be ok
I assume you are immunosuppressed.
Thanks Freddie. Yes, I’m 6 weeks post liver transplant and am taking Advagraf.
I’ve been told any what I call standard yogurt is fine it’s pasteurised (ski, onken) it’s the live yogurt you need to leave like activia. Please double check but I have them
Hi, nearly 2 1/2 years post transplant and I tend to just avoid what was on the list of what not to eat. Yogurt ice cream all those sort of things were my favourites in large quantities. I have found my eating habits changed as did my tastes of what I eat drastically by themselves. Where I used to be a really big meat eater I tend to crave pulses and vege things more these day. Did mention to consultant about possibly taking on some of donors habits but they didn’t think so. As I was still in hospital a month post transplant I did ask as I love liver could I still eat that and after a laugh of course I could. Wish you all the best on your recovery.
About 3 months after transplant I advised my liver consultant that yoghurt was almost impossible to find without live cultures and my other 'dessert' options were quite unhealthy as I also have diabetes. Both the consultant and dietician said I would be ok eating live yoghurt but not every day. Hope this helps point you in the right direction.
All yogurts are pasteurised as to make yoghurt milk has to be heated to 80C
Just avoided those that say live bio on them...which is relatively a small amount in the supermarket
My husband is 3 months post transplant
A pasteurised yogurt means the milk is heat treated, not the finished product. I am 10 months post and eat all yogurts except probiotic ones. The bacteria present naturally in yogurts are harmless and in fact many survive pasteurization, that is why milk goes sour
You only have to take precautions for first six months post and after that if your on more than ten mg of steroids after six months
Only after that you need to be careful with pork products
It's all common sense really x
Congratulations I hope recovery going well
Many thanks 😊!
6 weeks ago I was taking 20my of Prediscolne initially but me mg was reduced down to 15mg, 10mg and now 5mg.
Wow fantastic news 😁 long may it continue .... I meant to say it's just shelled fish as well
I loved having my first runny egg I was in heaven 🤣🤣 gave me something to look forward too
It's a difficult one since most people are trying to get all the live stuff in it. From what I understand unless it says that it contains live bacteria than it doesnt. I have a friend of mine that works as a dietician in a rehabilitation clinic for alchol and liver diseases. I'll ask her for you and see what she says. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.
