Six years sober today!

This time 6 years ago I was vomiting blood and on my way to the hospital. I'd been drinking over a bottle of vodka a day for around 2 years. I was at rock bottom and thought I was going to die.

Fast forward to today and although I have cirrhosis I'm healthy, have a partner, a full time job and become a health food blogger. The journey wasn't easy but I'm writing this so any of you that think it's not possible to get sober and turn your life around, it is.

Fantastic achievement. I am approaching 16 years myself, not only is it the best thing I have ever done, it was also the hardest. Just imagining what life would be like without alcohol scared the life out of me. Then discovering that for me and everyone around me life was so much better if I didn’t drink.Today my life is full of love and plenty of laughter and I have learned to not take anything for granted whilst living my life “one day at a time”.

Well done!

It's certainly possible to get off that horrible hamster-wheel of addiction.

Life is just soooo much better.

I like to remind myself of what I've gained rather than what I've given up.

The respect of others, self respect, less depression and mood swings.

I know I'll never fully regain my health and this disease might kill me at some point (if the double decker bus doesn't get me first) but I'm not going down without a fight!

Thanks for the inspiration ☺
