I was diagnosed in 2015 with cirrhosis, in the last 12 months I have been feeling very unwell, and at the moment I must sleep most of the day, but I feel better at night. Because I feel so ill I don't feel able to go out doors, but if I do fatigue takes over and have to go home to bed. To me I feel my consultant should refer me for transplant, but he wont, he says they wont accept me as I am not ill enough. I cant go on like this, I have thought of ending it all but I cant do this because my wife has got early alzheimers, and I am her carer. So for now if anyone can give me any ideas please do

Hi
Sorry to hear of your predicament. Sounds like Hepatic Encephalopathy and can be treated.
Which hospital are you attending?
Are you seeing a gastroenterologist or a Hepatologist.
You can always ask to be referred for a second opinion at one of the transplant units.
That was what we did and the Hepatologist was disgusted at the lack of care my hubby had
not been getting.
Needed to go on the list 6 months after we got 2nd opinion.
Good Luck
Im really sorry about ur cirrhosis. Doctors make me feel more sick than health conditions. Selfish sayin u need to be really ill for a transplant u need to be dying for a transplant but that been said they jusy dont offer transplants unless ur cirrhosis is at the point where ur liver is failing almost 100% and people have to die for others to get a transplant. Dont think about endin ur life ur wife needs u and u need u. U need to stay strong and focus and try medication meditation diet exercise to keep urself going. Has the doc prescribed anything for u? I dont know what else to say other than good luck and all the best
Sorry to hear this.
Yes it does sound like Encephalopathy. (Your toxins building up) Has your doctor suggested Lactulose ?
You can even ask your GP about taking this syrup (Lactulose)
Take care
