Hi I am really worried about a friend of mine, he has had kidney stones and 3 hospital admissions, loads of blood tests, one indicated he had an infection so he was given antibiotics and stronger painkillers. Then he was told that he was having booked in for a MRI scan we thought for his kidney stones but found out it was for his liver. When we phoned up to query this we were told that it was for 2 liver Lesions there was one found on one scan and then 2 on another it was marked up non urgent and he has been waiting 3 weeks for the scan. He feels ok and looks better than he did a few weeks ago he hasn't taken any painkillers for a week. He doesn't drink or smoke. I am worried sick he has his MRI scan on Tuesday evening and seeing the consultant on Saturday morning.

Hello Ellie,

Your friend is fortunate to have a friend like you who is so concerned for his wellbeing.

As everything seems to be taken seriously and all the right things are happening, I suggest that you try to not think of the worst and be happy that the picture will soon be clear about what is the problem.

Try to keep him away from the internet where he will likely find the worst case scenario and concentrate on giving support during the waiting period.

You can find lots of information about liver conditions and the common tests used for diagnosis on the British Liver Trust Website.
