Long Time Jaundiced

How long has anyone had jaundice prior to transplant with decompensated alcoholic cirrhosis? I am in my 28th month and feel I have little time left.

My I ask if you've been assessed to go onto the transplant list or are you already on the list and just waiting for an organ to become available?

They have been unable to figure out I am dying of liver failure. Based on studies and labs I can not even get into see a hepatologist. My liver is so sick my enzymes are back in the normal range and my bilirubin , for whatever reason, never shows any higher than 2.0 ( U.S. range is .4-1.2 ) Have had US, CT and even liver biopsy. Biopsy, based on my research, should never have been sent to lab because of sample sizes being way too small. I am school bus yellow and not one physician recognizes it as jaundice. All want your eyes to be yellow, mine are not, just the entirety of my body. Ammonia is only controlled through lactulose, my pcp gave me an open scrip without diagnosing the cause. Muscle wasting becoming severe and can not even find a physician that has the ability to recognize this.

I guess it varies from person to person. My husband went yellow (including the whites of his eyes ) in November 2009 and died May 2010. You're already doing better than he did. I hope it all works out for you.
