I had a score of 9 on a Fibroscan, please can someone tell me what that means?
I was told and sent on my way with no explanation.
I don’t see the liver man for over a moth and I’ve been worried about this for a couple of months already.
Please can anyone help?

It could be worse. 9 kPa is near the top of the F2 category (7 to 9.5) indicating that you have significant fibrosis. The next category F3 (9.5 to 12.5) means severe fibrosis and above 12.5 is cirrhosis.
If you do everything right from here on avoiding anything that stresses the liver (alcohol, drugs, supplements, junk food etc.) get your weight down if you are overweight, eat a healthy diet, exercise etc. then your liver should be able repair itself.
You are lucky that the damage is reversible through lifestyle changes.
It depends on what the underlying cause of your liver issue is because different underlying conditions actually have different grading scores on Fibroscan. If your condition was Non-Alcohol Related Fatty Liver a score of 9 would put you in the F2-F3 (advanced fibrosis) bracket, with Alcohol related liver disease kPa of 9 is only F2 fibrosis, Hep C would be F2 etc. Not at cirrhosis stage yet and still very reversible if the cause of your condition can be treated or halted. The fibroscan score chart can give you some further information.
I had crippling pain in my upper right abdomen, I couldn’t move, sweat pouring off me. After the 5th attack My family rung an ambulance.
They found ALT 1549, ALP 460 and Bilirubin of 41. NAFLD, non invasive fibrosis scores of FIB-4 score 0.54. They said acute hepatitis.
My gallbladder was contracted and multiple ulcers in duodenum.
Likely drug induced liver injury due to pain medications for crumbling spine.
I am overweight and have metabolic syndrome, PCOS, IBS, depression, anxiety and chronic pain.
I am constantly nauseous, itchy and tired, I am worried.
Now that you've revealed the extra information it puts a different light on things. What I wrote in my previous reply about changing your lifestyle still applies if you want to avoid getting even sicker however making the changes is likely to be very difficult given your situation.
Your score of 9 is near the upper limit of F2. F2 means that you have severe fibrosis. Your liver is headed for F3 (very severe fibrosis) followed by cirrhosis without a drastic lifestyle change. FibroScans aren't particularly accurate at measuring lower and intermediate levels of fibrosis so I wouldn't put too much faith in the accuracy of your score other than it meaning that you need to make drastic lifestyle changes now before it's too late.
Your off the chart blood test scores for things like ALT indicate that you have a severely inflamed liver. If you don't make drastic changes you'll likely wind up with cirrhosis & then only a transplant will save you. Getting your weight down would help but won't save you with figures like you quoted for ALT etc. Your pain medication is destroying your liver.
I'm lucky in that I suffer from arthritis which is manageable without painkillers now that I'm retired. There are times when I'd like to take painkillers to enable me to get more things done but after experiencing symptoms that were identical to decompensated cirrhosis I intend to stay clear of painkillers. If I ever do take painkillers again it will be occasionally.
I won't forget how bad I felt when my liver became acutely inflamed. The symptom I found the most debilitating was encephalopathy. It was so bad it would take me several hours to write a paragraph on a forum such as this one. I felt awful all the time, I had pruritus (itchy skin) which I still have, I was chronically tired and I had to nap several times through the day. My sleep was irregular and I often woke in a lather of sweat.
The worst thing was that I felt alone and extremely vulnerable & no-one cared.
You need to lose weight and at the very least drastically cut your intake of painkillers or better still stop them altogether. If you don't you'll wind up in a situation that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
I have stopped all pain killers, and I agree, it is very hard to function without them but I do.
I think the weight loss is the hardest for me as I have metabolic syndrome . I shall however do my absolute best.
I have a 12mth old son, 2 teenage girls and a very demanding old English sheepdog, so they all need me to be tip top.
Do you believe I can repair my liver completely? X
Probably yes if what I've been led to believe about the regenerative powers of the liver is correct. Your fibrosis being in the F2 category should be repairable. It may take years though. Even if it doesn't fully repair itself your liver should have enough reserve capacity to allow you to live a normal life span if you look after it.
My ALT has never been above 45 yet I felt very ill. Your ALT score of 1549 was off the chart. Anyone whose ALT got that high is going to have to live the rest of their life conscious of the need to look after their liver.
