Im being tested every six months, i have fatty liver. Your results dont really look high, your ast looks in normal levels and your alt not much over, i wouldnt be too worried. X
Anyone??? Advice please
We had a lengthy discussion about this previously and I know you are anxious but this constant worrying about your results is going to drive you nuts and can lead to physical symptoms. You said you were unwell with a virus when you had this 'blip' of a blood test result and your doctor assured you that all was well and did those other tests to rule out issues. I don't know what else to suggest.
My hubby who has advanced liver disease only has his blood tests done every 3 months to monitor his condition. I'd be tempted to leave it a bit and get it done in a couple more months time then you can see if there is a pattern .............. Your ALT wasn't very high at all in the grand scheme of things and your anxiety is making things seem far worse than reality.
Take a step back, get on with life and if you really feel the need get a retest in a couple of months. You have no symptoms, no history, obvious things have been tested for and ruled out.

Can u advise how long before should i retake... i did it in one week. And its higher by 2..
You really don't need to retake. You said you had a throat infection (sore throat) at the time of these earlier tests - your liver has a role in your immune response to infection and your ever so slightly elevated ALT more than likely reflects the fact your body was fighting this infection at the time of the earlier tests. ALT can rise and fall hourly and unless it was wildly elevated (into the hundreds or thousands) it really isn't something to be concerned about.
I have previously stated that 3 months would be an adequate time span to get re tested to see if there is any pattern. I realise that you perhaps arn't in the UK and perhaps there is a difficulty in translation but I have said all this previously.

Sigh i am from singapore. The anxiety of a abnormal lab test is killing me...
You are worrying over nothing. You had a marginally raised inflammation marker which is more than likely because your body was fighting a throat infection. You do need to calm down or you will make yourself poorly.
Hi,
This forum is here to share experiences and provide support to each other and we would advise against posting any test results or asking for specific medical advice.
This is not a medical forum and should not be used to try and make diagnoses or replace advice from your own medical practitioners who have a much wider view of your health and test results.
We appreciate how worried you are and hope you can still post with regards to support and information but it is against the rules of our forum to post test results and to ask for specific medical advice.
You may find The British Liver Trust publication on liver disease tests explained useful to read.
However, it really would be best to discuss your test results with your own doctors who know you best,
Kind Regards,

High your results are still in normal range, so they probably won’t want them rechecked. Have you seen a hospital specialist, they can tell if/when they need to be checked. You could also put NHS do I need my bloods repeating on google.
Your doctor told you that your results are ABNORMAL yet doesn't seem concerned?
I would ask your Doctor to explain why he/she is NOT concerned as it is clearly causing you a lot of anxiety.
Hi
I know you are anxious. My advice for what it is worth is as follows:
1. Make sure you follow a healthy diet. See mud website for information about portion control and what is a healthy amount of fruit and veg, meat, fish other protein, carbs and fat.
2. Exercise everyday. E.g walking is good, so is swimming and cycling. Try and go for a walk somewhere where there is nice fresh air like the countryside or better still the seaside.
3. Make sure you rest at night. Try different things that help you relax and empty your mind of worries. A good night's sleep helps the body to look after itself.
4. If you drink do it in moderation. Try to drink less than the recommendation amounts. Better still if you can stop drinking.
5. If you are taking any supplements talk it over with your gp most people who have a healthy diet and exercise properly don't need them. See what the gp advises.
6. If you are on medication prescribed by the gp check when your med review is due and check with your gp if they are still needed. If they are then taking them as prescribed means you are following medical guidelines for your needs.
7.Have fun. A good belly laugh is good for you. It uses a few calories and helps the body to look after itself. Having fun with family can also be good.
8. If you are still worried phone the surgery and ask what the tests actually mean. You will probably find the virus sent the tests a bit hinky. We all have lots of tests for all sorts of things. Usually to rule them out. It is only occasionally in the number of actual tests taken that someone hits a real problem.
Take care
Gx
I understand your concern, sounds like others want you to stop worrying. I am in the same boat as you; I have read a lot and have decided to retest every month. Hope this helps.
3 to six months is good. You need to establish a trend. I'd do every 3 months until a certain trend is identified. AST looks good, ALT is a little high. NAFLD? Sometimes it's normal for some people to run a high ALT. ALT can also be high due to gallbladder dysfunction. My personal belief, when in doubt fibroscan. You can get it doctor ordered or a private. You seem to be freaking out, I can understand why. Although, your numbers aren't too bad. Fibroscan will let you know if you have a fatty liver problem. Since, you don't have a history of possible causes for these elevations. I got my fibroscan, that's what helped me realize I was dying of liver disease. Before the fibroscan Jesus couldn't convince that I was alright. However, mine was drug induced AST off the charts and ALT pretty high too. I got a fibroscan after six months, then another six months later to make sure my liver was going North instead of South from the paracetamol damage.
What was your alt ast? Sigh its killing me
AST 300 that was a few months after stopping. ALT 100. Toxic damage, AST is normally higher. Also, I got worse a few months after stopping. The liver has an immune response called PAWS. With succession of alcohol or certain drugs, the immune system ramps up to try to fix the damage in the liver. However, it can result in being more sick. Mimicking an acute hepatitis. Globulin will normally be high when this is happening.
