elevated liver enzymes back..

short version of story: on allopurinol for gout for many years. enzymes were high many years ago then stabilized around 2012. were tested every two weeks for over a year and ok. then stopped testing and started again end of sept. enzymes high again.

off allopurinol completely now (about 1 month) and still elevated [alt=90 ast=50 say]. being tested every week. complete non-drinker for many years [gout!]. other drugs i take are for high blood pressure.

fibroscan = 6 [iqr=1.2]

ultrasound shows some fatty liver

GGT 27

Platelets 160

liver doc wants to do a biopsy and i'm a bit freaked out by the whole thing. any words of wisdom? i don't think it is the allopurinol since last year enzymes were fine when i was on it.
