iron pills

Hi. The hospital has put me back on iron pills, now I am feeling so tired and washed out all the time. Could this be due to the iron pills?

Hello Maurine,

As requiring iron tablets suggests that you were anaemic ( low iron in the blood) being tired and washed out is only to be expected.

How long have you been taking the iron tablets and why did the prescribing doctor say they were prescribed ?

If they were for anaemia it will take some time before they begin to work.

By the way, I hope you're beginning to feel warm again.

Hello Maureen, please excuse me but I'm a little confused. Do have liver related issues? or even had a transplant. The reason I ask this, is that when I was first told I had liver cirrhosis, I ask the then consultant if I should be taking anything to help and repair the liver, and asked about using Iron tablets. He told me that there was more iron in a damaged liver than in a healthy one.
