Hi I have autoimmune hepatitis and take mercaptopurine. I live in Ayrshire and would be interested to know anyone else in or around Ayrshire with the same condition.

We are near Maybole, hubby has advanced cirrhosis due to AIH - hubby is treated at Ayr though all care is dictated from Edinburgh having been referred there to transplant team. There is also a lass from Saltcoats area who has had AIH since childhood (been through two transplants) & still has active AIH (she is treated at Crosshouse). I belive there is another lady from Patna area who also posts.
We are members of the AIH Facebook page which is a really active group with over 1000+ members who either all have AIH or are family members like myself who are caring for loved ones with the condition. You'd get a warm welcome there too.

I think we talked on Facebook Katie about consultants, Dr Gillen & Dr Shah. I've decided to stay with Dr Shah and trying to have scans etc at Ayr but having trouble getting appointments dept to sort it out. Each time I think they've got it appt comes in for Crosshouse again but will keep persevering.
I'm from Patna.

Hi Ann,
Welcome to the forum.
As Jim has kindly already posted, we have a strong support group network in Scotland facilitated by one of our fantastic colleagues Amy.
Maybe you'd like to email her and see which group may be suitable for you?
Here is the link to the Scottish groups and Amy's contact details;

We hope that is helpful,
Warm wishes,

Hi All,
My name is Amy and I am the support group coordinator in Scotland. I run a variety of groups throughout Scotland. If people are interested, I am happy to come to facilitate a group in Ayr. If your are interested get in touch and we can get the ball rolling for organizing a group in Ayr.
Kind Regards,
Amy.
Hi Amy thank you for your kind offer, it would be good to meet and talk to people in this area face to face if it was possible. I enjoy our Facebook group and get a lot from it and I'm sure this will be the same but meeting and talking would remove the feeling of isolation that I'm sure we all feel from time to time.
I don't drive and my husband is temporarily incapacitated just now so the farther afield groups are not possible.
Kind regards
Ann
