How to elevate pain?

Mummymoors85 profile image

I'm only allowed paracetamol and it's not shifting the pain today.

It's not agonising just really uncomfortable under my right rib and right should blade area.

I'm seeing the consultant on Tuesday but was wondering if there is anything else I could do to ease it alittle.

Thank you xx

You'd have to speak to a medical professional about that. But importantly don't be tempted to take any more than the recommended dose of paracetamol.

Oh I won't Hun. Everything else makes me whoosy. So wouldn't even attempt too. Xx

distraction... ha ha... i mentioned aches and pains to consultant and basically got told there is nothing else i can take... as have mild hepatic e. so bit risky.

would ask though cause all are different.

im trying to save taking them if I can then have them at its worse.... not easy though is it.

i feel it more when I am more fed up or run down so not sure how to fix that. hope w can get some relief. cazer

I'm trying to keep busy it's just a night when everything seems 100% worse. Normally the pain eases but after my little bleep in Feb it doesn't want to go away. Xx

i sit with my arm up above my head it raises my ribs and so makes a bit more roomy for liver... sounds silly but it helps me. cazer

i am knew to this site but like yourself i had the same problem. i was put on Tramadol a high dosage for a while then eventually my consultant at one hospital had to write 3 letters to another liver consultant, where in the end up i had to get my gallbladder removed due to gallstones. i had auto immune hepatitis cirrhosis of the liver. i see this message is 5 months old. i hope you are better now.

Hi Kate, I've just had another stint in hospital which finally gave them the go ahead to do a liver biopsy. So I'm now just in waiting. Hope you are doing ok. X

Abolutely keep within paracetamol dose, I was wrongly told that I could take neurofen if really painfull. Sadly caused fluid retention, spontanous bacterial perrintitis, acsitise. Very poorly almost finished my liver and myself off. Have had a cirrose liver 20 years then hit by this. Pain was from a bakers cist on back of knee. Please follow Doctor advice.

I've been told to avoid neurofen so I do. Thank you though.

this could be gallstones. is the pain worse after eating? if so eat very small meals and no fatty meals or pizz;a or cheese or any creamy dishes. just plain food. let us know how you get on. love grace xoxoxo

Hi grace had my gallstones removed 5 years ago. In fact I think this is what has caused all this mess in the first place! Had them out then a few months had sepsis and it just goes on from there. 🙄

you might have to type this in to google if it doesnt come up blue but there are many stories about people who have had thier gallbladder removed and more pain and more stones.

I use a heating pad sometimes when I don't want to take the pain medicine.

I have been using a hot water bottle but can't walk around with it all the time. I never thought of a heat pad thou. 🤔

I use it mostly when I'm sleeping, it's very soothing. I also use it for the back pain.

I had to use my heating pad last night. The first 2 days after chemo I really can't sleep because of the steroid in the antinausea medicine . Had to take my oxycodon and 2 benadryl . Last night was the best night of sleep that I've had in weeks !
