I started on this path in April 20 after pain on right side, after US fatty liver was shown as an incidental finding. Dr said don’t worry.
In Jan 21 the pain was harsh. In Feb21 they said liver slightly enlarged. In April they said it was normal. In June CT scan in a and e showed nothing but fatty liver.
LFT and bloods had elevated AST and GGT all year but AST nearly normal, 6 points off. I’m 5f 2inches and weigh 10:10 today from 12:8 in Jan 21.
Paid to see a private consultant who done a Fib 4 score abs said it’s fine no threat of fibrosis. Ggt they said is only slightly elevated at double what it should be.
Advised to loose more weight and really burn the fat out of the body through excercises. I’m doing all that and am so thankful it’s not too bad.
Just can not move on because it hurts. I feel like I live in glue. I’m doing CBT, positive affirmations healthy eating healthy diet.
Why won’t the pain go away

First of all 2 stones in weigh loss, that is excellent, well done.
I'm so sorry you have chronic pain.
I guess, until they can identify the cause of the pain it will always be there. Maybe your liver is not losing fat as quickly as you are and eventually a little more weight loss may ease the pain??
I'm sure there are liver disorders that are more difficult to diagnose than others and possibly you have not been able to get a definite diagnosis other than fatty liver.
There's also the possibility your pain may not be your liver, but as it is in that region, and, being told about your fatty liver it may be that you associate the pain with your liver.
You seem very well regimented so you could try cutting out food types to see if anything in particular has an effect. Whatever is causing pain might be triggered by specific foods. Gluten, carbs, glucose, dairy, fruit, nuts etc... At least then, you are trying something even if nobody else is.
If you try different food groups, hopefully it may decrease or increase the pain and if something works or doesn't work, it will still be new information to give to your doctor. Plus showing your doctor you are trying to remedy this yourself will encourage the doctor to look as well.
I agree with Dave. Well said. It seems like you have some kind of food allergy rather than any liver issue. Also stress can cause these pains too. Clearly you are stressed by the pain and the stress could very well be making you have more of it. Vicious circle.
There are lots of positives in your post. Well done for losing the weight. I want to ask you about your pain though. Can you describe it? Does it move around? Is it constant pain or more a constant uncomfortableness?
I also have pain which I've had for about 3 months. I've had pain in the past after drinking a couple of times but usually it's 6 weeks and it recovers. I don't drink now and haven't for a couple years, but I did last Xmas and woke up with pain.
Sorry for hijacking your post! What exercises do you do and do you find the pain impacts that?
I am very fortunate in that I do not have pain, but I know people who do and I was just saying what Dave (right above my post) is mentioning has worked for my friends - eliminating stress helps. People have their own ways of doing it, some just take a walk with a pet, others listen to music, whatever works for you. But that is all I can pitch in, really I was just giving a thumbs up to Dave's post. I apologize for any misunderstanding. Stick at it and you have reason to be optimistic and don't drink at all!
Thank you I’m really restricting carbs for 3 weeks to see if that helps and am going to introduce gluten free. I am a chef by trade but teach food in a secondary school so well equipped with nutritional info.
Thanks for your thoughts
Will certainly start an experiment into food groups now.

Would your consultant maybe refer you to the chronic pain team at hospital for a further review? Congratulations on making the lifestyle changes and hope you start to feel better soon.
